@alex I’ve asked people who believe the Twitter Files for proof of their claims. Rightwingers cite fake things like how the FBI blocked the “Laptop from Hell” which the Twitter Files show didn’t happen, while the few lefties say that because the CIA was evil fifty years ago we should assume they’re censoring Twitter now. And that’s after they ignore many requests for proof. It’s scary how many people think proof is a debate trick and not the first step to knowing things.

This attitude of journalists rewarding infamous people was also the justification 60 Minutes used for platforming Marjorie Traitor.She’s “influential” so we should cover her. But the only reason she’s “influential” is because the media covers her so much. She’s not popular nationally or control a large portion of Congress. @dangillmor What’s scary about rightwingers is that their bias looks like truth to them. If someone isn’t giving a heavily one-sided view using lots of loaded words it means they’re liberals. And if they have to lie about their beliefs to win, that’s our fault for making their words sound dumb when we ask them to defend themselves.

One of the signs that Trump’s lawyers aren’t completely stupid is that they don’t try to use the lies in court that they say on TV.Here we have a Jan 6 rioter claiming in court that the Capitol Police let him in and he was just there to pray. That works great with Trumpers who refuse to watch the video, but wasn’t so great with a judge who could plainly see the truth and scolded him for it. They can’t understand context but look for key trigger words to make assumptions about what they’re reading. That’s why you can routinely debunk them using their own sources because they project their beliefs onto the source material.
