Posting this on social.teci.world from Mammudeck.com, my multi-column UI for the Mastodon client API. Mammudeck contains my Mastodon API Explorer, which allows you to send any of the API commands and see the result, in a twist-down JSON tree. Very useful for client creation.My Fediverse home is @billstclair (impeccable.social), but I'm also @billstclair@gleansonator.com (Gleasonator), iquites@truthsocial.com (Truth Social), and billstclair@freeatlantis.com (and @billstclair@gab.com, but Gab no longer federates or allows external clients). I'm also Xossbow on Twitter, which has become hugely more fun since Elon Musk took over.I'm an e-bike fanatic. I have seven of them, with one more to join the stable soon (though I plan to sell two that I don't need).I play the trombone, occasionally, sing in a really good local chorus, once a week, and dance like a monkey whenever possible. The Eagles are coming to Knoxville on April 1, 2023. I have a seat in the back, so I can stand up and dance the whole time.Namaste.

@tournelhenry No. Truth Social has a Rebased back-end, with their own web front-end, and they talk the Mastodon client API, so #Mammudeck works there, but they do not federate.

@realcaseyrollins @stux I like John Lennon’s imagination. But to me, no countries means no governments. We all have free will anyway, so “rule” is impossible, unless people allow it. Warlords will take over? They already have. They wear badges and run for office.

@tsh2 @realcaseyrollins @koyu @eliocamp My first home computer was an LSI-11/23. It lived in a rack, had 128K bytes of RAM and 1 megabyte floppies. It ran RT-11. I spent $600 on a 20 megabyte hard drive. Impossibly huge and fast!

Heh. I wrote one and a half Scheme interpreters on that machine.The first one used 64K bytes of RAM as heap and the other 64K bytes for OS and program.The second one had a software demand-paged virtual memory system. It took 10 microseconds to load a 32-bit word, if it was in memory, or it got swapped in from disk, if it wasn't. I finished the virtual memory code, but not the interpreter for the second one.Then I went to Germany for six months, and worked on Symbolics Lisp machines when I got back.

@SuperSnekFriend @Curvin @Gronsak When my son was born, he screamed so loud that it hurt my ears. For his first year or two, if you put him down, he’d repeat the performance. He wanted to be held, always. He just turned 31. Most well-adjusted person I’ve ever met (but then, I’m prejudiced).

@Curvin @SuperSnekFriend @Gronsak I was there before computers existed. My first programming in high school was on Fortran coding forms, which were sent to the state for keypunching. The next day, I'd review the punched card deck, and submit it to be run on the IBM 360. The day after that, I'd get back a stack of line-printer paper, which I checked for whether my program had worked. The TTY-33 printing terminal (ka-chunk, ka-chunk, ka-chunk, 33 times per minute) attached to the Xerox Sigma 7 at the University of Wyoming (1972) was wonderful: immediate feedback.

@realcaseyrollins Well, the song WAS about black people, but only because more black people do things that small town folk would shoot them for. It has nothing to do with the color of their skin, and everything to do with the culture of non-respect for person and property that they grew up in.
