Both driving a electric car and veganism are in most cases people saying they are morally superior to non electric car drivers who eat meat. That is all they care about. Whether either make the world better is meaningless to them.

Unless there is a guaranteed path, he should be cautious. Aside from Dems, there may still be enough Anti Trump Republicans to align with the Dems to block him. Trump must appear to be politically inevitable.
