@evelyn you're right, of course, I was just being silly. The problem today is not having control of or understanding the decisions behind what you see, and I know that's what people mean by "algorithm".

@tek I used to commute from Oakland to SF everyday using the ferry (and bike), it was such a nice commute! I really miss the early mornings, drinking coffee on the ferry and watching the sunrise... and then going back home, drinking a beer on the ferry while watching the sunset.

@falktx I think you just need to follow people from other instances?I run my own instance, and when I click on hashtags I see toots from people I don't follow, but **I think** they are all from instances where I follow someone.I know you can set up a relay for federating with a specific instance, but i could never figure out how to do that.

@tek I had something similar happen to me a few years ago in Oakland.Two guys: "We're from PG&E, and we need to see your latest bill."Me: "If you were from PG&E you wouldn't have to ask to see my bill. Fuck off!"I did some research and it seemed to be a scam where they sign you up for an energy reseller that seems cheaper at first but ends up being way more expensive in the long run (and you can't cancel for a year).
