@elle @lukehefson @lachlanhardy @toolmantim @sentience @glenngillen mammoth is good, ivory is a bit more polished. Metatext has been abandoned last I saw. Haven’t checked ice cubes but people seem to be positive. All seem decent!

@simon this will be really helpful. I’m not a python person and only have to roll it out for tooling. It’s always a pain in the ass, because who wants to understand the intricacies of the best package management abstraction for a cli. Pipx all day!

@hugo if the content isn’t visible on the public site, maybe it’s possible they need to add a future date filter

@todayilearned You have no idea what you’re talking about. Voting in Australia is compulsory. If you don’t vote you will be fined.

I'd never recommend shopping at Havey Norman (because ownership), but I do find it spectacularly funny that they have an (estimated) 29 minute queue to use their website, then a 10 minute window in which to use it.

@jaffathecake It's amazing to me that people would throw away 4 years of their working life on something that was very obviously pushing up hill the entire time, only to have it swept away. Just big co things 💅

@hugo maybe served with incorrect mime type? I haven’t seen a lot of webm in the wild but assume (like new image formats) that it’s easier to export a single format and have a CDN perform transcoding to best available format based on client?

@hugo I’d say that the dollar value of the purchase probably has to be higher before people will consider that approach. For $3 it’s too annoying to remember o cancel and manage.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@sir_pepe/115923413113414435This article provides the perfect view into React brain worms: Instead of a native HTML input radio elementIt’s somehow easier to import hundreds of lines of code, and implement a faux radio button (that’s actually a button with svg to LOOK LIKE A RADIO), and ARIA rules (to WORK LIKE A RADIO)

I find this to be the most common paradox of React “engineering”. People say React is easy and DX focused, but then continue to add layer upon layer, brick by brick, to fix the structural issues beneath.
