@druid Yeah, it's like some times, some of us, want to make our society more anti-social than it already is. We were shown the fruits of our effort and we think only what we can achieve, not what we would like to achieve.

@amy @druid @dyske What I've felt, and it was a really big impact on me, is that society as is now always tries to make you feel like nothing. Me moving from a small town in the big city was a heck of an experience. Everything in a city tells you that you're small. You get in the subway like a sardine in a tin. You can't see the sky beneath the high buildings, you can't feel the ground anywhere, whatever nature exists is decayed or industrialized. You do a work that is totally unrelated to your living and exchange it for paying others to live your life bad. You just barely have money to buy stuff that won't even do your bidding.So what is the psychological reaction to this? The desiring machine produces what it thinks it can reach. You see the monster, the ghetto, the outcast and you conclude that the only thing you can reach is that this society is so unbeatable that the only thing possible is that it just won't hunt you. So we rally to show our conformity and we rally for the monster to take its anger upon the others. And every day we try more, left or right, to push for the ideas that will make us safe, because we are powerless.

@zardoz The human knowledge is not axiomatic is a highly controversial issue. More likely it's a network of axiomatic systems.

when you have so many things to do in your life that you decide to just hack together a web app for exploration of the conjecture that most Wikipedia articles lead to philosophy by selecting the first link:a_trusted_friend:Screenshot from 2020-02-20 01-0…

@emacsomancer @null_radix @kaushalmodi There’s not hugo in guix, in fact I started packaging it and got bored after 20 or so quirky packages, but there is haunt.Haunt is a very lean, but very expandable, static page generator written in Guile Scheme.The thing is there is ox-haunt that offers a very workable subset of ox-hugo functionality!

@noyoushutthefuckupdad @phoneboy Personally I use a university vpn with a static website (anything like hugo, jekyll, I personally use haunt).Then I just share the rss with any service that distributes podcasts, when people that listen to it, can't find it on their favorite service. The rss creation is a little bothersome, and maybe I'll share my solution as a library sometime, but heh.https://theconspiracyclub.gr is the aforementioned podcast, to take a look how it works. (it's in greek)

@march @Thule Well SICP works very nice as an introduction to how functional programming is easier for the beginner and how to include mutation as an issue at the same time.Maybe a work that was like in SICP in progression but at the same time was more friendly to people with less of a mathematical background, and maybe using another, more trendy, programming language would be a huge step towards that agenda!

@gopiandcode @Thule @march Wow, that looks great and crazy at the same time. So there's no more excuses for friends that want to try SICP but don't because they don't have time to learn ancient invocations full of parentheses.

The thing is that living in a small town you can have and build really impactful communities, ones that matter for the lives of people around you in a very immediate sense. Not that this is impossible in big cities; but the percentage of people affecting and the feedback loop are larger and make me feel wanting more.It's the same concern in production/value. If my livelihood is dependent on an interconnection that I can't reason about, it feels abstract and non-satisfying. If I eat what I cultivated my body feels satisfied for my labor.

I just finished reading the mediocre programmer, I related so much to the concepts inside, even more since I have avoided a career as a programmer due these kinds of feelings. Thanks for your work @craigmaloney

@lstamellos Το πρόβλημα δεν είναι μόνο ο ιδιωτικός τομέας, το πρόβλημα είναι ότι ο "ξύπνιος" Musk παίρνει χρήματα των Αμερικάνων πολιτών και παίζει με τα όνειρα του χωρίς να δίνει λογαριασμό σε κανέναν.Πχ https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/07/spacex-starlink-wins-nearly-900-million-in-fcc-subsidies-auction.htmlΕίναι ακραίο πόσο κρατικοδίαιτοι είναι όλοι οι δισ- / εκατομμυριούχοι αυτού του κόσμου. Μήπως πρέπει να αρχίσουμε να σκεφτόμαστε που πάνε τα χρήματά μας και ποιοι πλουτίζουν από αυτά;

@publicvoit I just did the setup for #chezmoi yesterdays, so I don't have deep expertise. I have one desktop computer and one laptop, that I wanted to sync configs.The configs are not very complex, so I don't know about the configuration options in templates. There is a whole section in the documentation so it seems covered but I don't know the extend.The dotfiles are stored in a git repo that you manage on you own in .local/share/chezmoi. To add changes to the repo you need to re-add the changed files by running chezmoi add filename but you can also add them all together. With chezmoi diff you can check for unaccounted changes.In general it's a bit more polished than stow, but works on a similar idea.I would like to try #guix home, but it seemed a little more complicated.
