@rcode3 @jerry I used rust for a bit last year, and finally threw in the towel. It's almost good, but every time the borrow checked caused issues I found myself saying 'why the hell isn't the compiler helping do this'. Go, for me, strikes a good balance between Python and C.

@jerry webmin is still around? It was a giant source of pain back when I was an actual Linuxadmin > 10 years ago. Step 1) Is webmin installed? If so nuke from orbit...

@maxeddy I love this quote "lacking in any rigor that would elevate it out of numerology."

@leip4Ier drive order can sometimes change so it’s always a good idea to use UUIDs.

@leip4Ier It would be easier if the drive order was randomized on every boot, then you'd hit these kinds of problems more often :)

@nolan For a very visible segment of the industry, yes. Highly interconnected applications that depend on the shifting sands of infrastructure and dependencies are fragile.OTOH there are many 'done' projects that need minimal maintenance. eg. my digitemp project is 22 or so years old and still works and has a user base > 1 :)

@leip4Ier how would that work? To get letsencrypt to issue the domain you’d have to compromise the TLD dns first
