it took my poor little brain 20 minutes to find a workaround for this... Office365 calendars weren't syncing with anything anymore. Turns out it is a useragent issue. Luckily, good ol' #vdirsyncer can deal with that. So now, as long as I turn on my laptop from to time time, my work calendar syncs into my personal calendar so I can see it on my phone without installing anything extra. Only took 8 lines added to a config to do it. Yay.

Correction some exams...Get to the perfectly polite student who also had an "I don't need to do this" attitude. The student that half-assed it for 2 years straight because this was the "easy" subject.The student that stayed until the last minute of the exam...and handed in an incomplete exam.Final grade? Literally just enough to pass the course by 0.01 points.

@johncarlosbaez so many students come to the school where I teach based on rankings. It is all for show. They accept nearly every applicant so other schools have fewer butts in chairs and somehow that makes us look better? And then they survey them 3 years after graduation and ask how much money they make? And for some reason our school needs to pay to be accredited and on the ranking list?

I've heard people talking about #dumbphones again (maybe because of #ChatControl?)I'm not an expert, but you don't need to be. Especially where I live (#France) because the choice is limited.You got one called the Doov R77 Pro. Classic candybar with the buttons, €104, Actually an Android phone so not a dumbphone or a feature phone.There's the €300 Light Phone II or the €700 Light Phone III. They certainly look cool and get good reviews.The €350 Mudita Kompakt looks nice too...

oh me oh my it happened!I made it to work early. 45 minutes early!I set up the class, I got my tabs ready, my slides were primed.No students though.I waited.No students.I checked the room numbers and refreshed the planning site.NO STUDENTS!!!19 years teaching and this is the first time I have had 100% absence!

Here is one of my goofs this weeks...I was showing a student how to use an online platform. They are supposed to do 8 tests and spend a certain amount of time. I clicked around a bit and then showed them how to check their progress...Now, this isn't really a goof. They should have realised on their own. But when we looked at the progress after just 30 seconds of clicking it showed 100% completion (up from 5%) and over 900 minutes (up from 10 or 20).Crap crap crap...

Tales from the Whiteboard...Last week a new class started. That would be the only class taught and lesson 2 would be cancelled. Why? The class was about #AI, and the professor[1] teaching the class just read from ChatGPT for 3 hours. With 100% confidence, and 0 prep work, they stumbled their way through a lesson concocted by a chatbot. Students asked questions, the prof asked the chatbot. They filmed. Shameful.[1] A researching professor earning a monthly 5-digit salary
