@aaronpettman Sounds like a #BlackMirror episode. I wonder how many Black Mirror episodes US tech giants will bring to reality.

@bojkotiMalbona @werwolf I noticed from your article that even #privacytools change logs are on a Cloudflare website calling itself #awesomealternatives. It’s never just one irony with these folks; it’s always a cascade of irony & #hypocrisy.

Digital rights folks- pledge: “I will stop donating money to civil liberties, privacy, & digital rights orgs who continue to maintain #Twitter, #Facebook & #LinkedIn links on their public websites.” Instead, donate to an org that is actually aligned with the values they claim to be supporting. Your money will go further in the hands of specific projects like #Ombrelo.

#EFF, #ACLU, #Epic, #Proton, #Tutanota, #torproject, … they all demonstrate their #hypocrisy by directing people into those places contrary to their stated missions. Shame on them. Stop feeding them. These bloated orgs don’t spend your money efficiently anyway.

How can you call yourself “@PrivacyDigest” if you’re going to put your account in the privacy-abusing walled-garden of #Cloudflare? #hypocrisy

It’s absolutely hilarious that the #Reddit CEO calls regulating social media “tyranny”. This comes from a platform that has mastered tyranny w/its factory of robot #shadowban power abusers. It’s one of few platforms where I would expect governmental control to be /less/ tyrannical than the current clowns in control. #hypocrisy

@PaulaToThePeople Yikes, that’s quite disturbing. I always lose respect for #privacy or digital freedom projects that take the path of #hypocrisy. #uBlockOrigin devs should know to avoid #Cloudflare.@schmittlauch@toot.matereal.eu

@adam @simon Indeed the payment options are shit. The problem with #Paypal & credit card via paypal:https://git.disroot.org/cyberMonk/liberethos_paradigm/src/branch/master/rap_sheets/paypal.mdThe only alternative is intl. bank xfers. And since it’s not SEPA there’s likely a money grab by the intermediate banks involved. Fuck that.

I bring you yet another ironic display of #hypocrisy. The UN’s Universal Declaration of #humanRights has recently become an access-restricted document. If you are in the excluded group you get a #403forbidden error. And worse, if you try to fetch a copy using the #WaybackMachine, /everyone/ gets to see a copy of the 403 error instead of the human rights declaration because the #UN is blocking the #InternetArchive (effectively, the UN has become anti-Library).

Isn’t it bizarre that there are some US states & local govs that put legal code behind #paywalls? Why isn’t there outrage that people are bound by laws they do not have open and free access to? You must pay a fee to see the plumbing code. A lot of #law nationwide is jailed in #Cloudflare, so you don’t get access to the legal statutes if you are excluded by Cloudflare. If you want to read tax law, the #IRS website directly blocks Tor users.I just now wanted to read the International Bill of #HumanRights on a highly ranked site: #humanrightscareers.com, & got swamped with popups, animated ads, & garbage that drained my data credit. This should not be a consequence of getting public legal code.So what’s the solution?Check all that apply.#poll

@adam @simon If they really need money, they will:* publish a mailing address where people can send cash or cheques.* publish some cryptocurrency addresses* publish seminars/events they attend where they would have a physical “tip jar”* get bank accounts opened in the US and Europe

@simon @adam I thought cheques were the norm in the UK.In the US: paper checks are still king for sending money remotely. Wires are absurdly expensive. E-checks move slower than snail-mailed paper checks & they are subject to scrutiny. I tried to send ~$300 by popmoney (echeck) & got interrogated as to how I know the person & what I was buying. Took like 4 days.If they need the money bad enough, they will accept cash. We have a civic duty to fight the #warOnCash.

@simon @adam OSM needs to reference that wiki page from their donations page. On their donations page, I had to click to get a paypal alternative and on that page they only mentioned the GBP account.

@matzipan Not sure you read the whole thread. Anyone who is well informed & does not consider #paypal shit is likely a piece of shit themselves. By “informed”, I mean being aware of these damning facts:https://git.disroot.org/cyberMonk/liberethos_paradigm/src/branch/master/rap_sheets/paypal.mdMost people are either uninformed, or unwilling to let ethics get in their way. OSM needs to become informed about Paypal.@BrianSmith950 @simon @adam

@matzipan I used Paypal before they locked my account & kept the money -- before I became broadly aware of Paypal’s wrongdoing.w.r.t checks, what do you do in Europe if you want to pay someone who does not have a bank account? A check covers that situation. Cash is better, but because of the #warOnCash Belgium, France, & Spain have outlawed cash transactions above a certain amount.@BrianSmith950 @simon @adam

@danialbehzadi @BrodieOnLinux I knew instantly the headline was BS so I didn’t watch the video. How do I know this, you might ask… because only #emacs users know what is the most important text editor on linux.

@w3cdevs So we are being sent to a #Cloudflare site to get coached on #privacy. #W3C only demonstrates need for being schooled on privacy themselves.Anyone behind a #PrivacyMatters #EthicalWeb advocacy only demonstrates #hypocrisy or ignorance by simultaneously using a Cloudflare site that is configured to block the Tor community. You get bonus hypocrisy points for telling privacy proponents to “get involved” by using MS #github.@tag @jyasskin

@w3cdevs It’s an absolute dispicable disgrace that an org like #w3c that is supposed to convey open standards has put their own website inside an access-restricted #walledGarden. It’s also quite revolting that the “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines” (#WCAG) come from this exclusive organization. Everyone should have access to #WCAG standards.@tag @jyasskin

I have really been baffled by the widespread loyalty to Microsoft by the #FreeSoftware community. I wonder if you have the answer… is it really user-friendliness that causes FOSS devs to embrace #Github with such strong loyalty as to ignore marginalization of people communities excluded by MS? I think of developers as quite technical so I would not have thought user-friendliness is that critical to a forge. #askFedi

@fsf IIRC it was suggested yrs ago that FSF mark #Github & #Gitlab.com links with an anti-feature indicator linking to FSF’s repo eval page. Still no progress. FSF also directs visitors to Cloudflare websites which are /disrespectful/ of people’s freedom, while neglecting to even warn people. E.g. docs for #ArgosTranslate. I will not be directly involved under these circumstances.
