@futurebird i tell my students that math is so powerful becuse you can work out almost any problem with alegbra (linguistic)geolmetry (visual, haptic)or calculations (quantitative sense)there are always ways to match up the algebra with geometry.pwerful tool. each way can check the othereach way can be used by people who think differently.

@futurebird # spp per nation is a very artificial way to look! it should be # per square mile or 1000 square miles...i remember reading a paper 2 decades ago on the 10 ant species in alaska.curious no data for canada? I know there's was a guy in chicoutamie (?) quebec doing a revision of Formica...

@futurebird my last attempt at taching was a long term sub in 7th grade science. the 'honors' class was 29 kids. not very honorable either. nor were there often enough chairs. don't even ask about soldering irons. i don't think i was even allowed to use microscopes. everything was locked up.

@futurebird taught th summercamp kidz a local algorithm to count in binary ztanding in a row. In fact i created a cicuit out of a dozen of them to do th counting and convert it into decimal. We also learnt a bubble sort algo with them standing in row usung only local info. No cpu necessary.

@futurebird actuly.. the resources it DOES take humans to make a movie I might watch 1 or 3 times boggles my mind. I've always thought those efforts shld go to making a school museum dance... kinda thing instead
