@freemo @trinsec technically one could use the atom (rss) feed integrated in mastodon and one would be none the wiser who is actually reading the not intended newsletter.

@freemoThanks, yeah, been out for awhile and have a new project brewing to be more active on qoto again. Now if only I can find the article that sparked the idea…@trinsec

#DailyBloggingChallenge (001/10)In the past I have been quite fruitful with daily challenges. Successfully achieved the 50 day #StatisticsChallenge and slowly creeping up on 365 day mark of the #MappingChallenge (@barefootstache) with less than a month to go. Thus, I will attempt the daily blogging challenge. The requirements will be quite simple for the begining and might expand through time: It must use hashtag (XX/YY) format. This has two benefits: One can follow the hashtag thereby potentialy creating its own atom/rss feed. One can filter out these posts if unwanted. It must be post ready before slumber. This puts the focus on writing rather than publishing and gives a grace period if no internet connection. If written on mobile, it must be written with the #8pen keyboard. It must be at least one paragraph or three sentences long. This challenge was sparked after reading the articlehttps://www.yieldcode.blog/post/why-engineers-should-write/written by @skwee357.

#DailyBloggingChallenge (18/25)This is where you can find the #RSS for an account on #mastodon (and probably the #fediverse):https://<instance>/@<username>.rssFor my account it would be https://qoto.org/@barefootstache.rssAnd for hashtags it’shttps://<instance>/tags/<hashtag>.rssFor the #DailyBloggingChallenge it’s https://qoto.org/tags/DailyBloggingChallenge.rssOne thing to keep in mind for choosing an <instance> for the hashtags, one should choose one that does not shadow ban keywords. In general, qoto.org is a good choice.#Fdroid has a wide selection of apps to use as an RSS reader: https://search.f-droid.org/?q=rss+&lang=enMy preference is #Feeder (https://gitlab.com/spacecowboy/Feeder). Similar apps exist for various operating systems and as browser extensions.#guide #hack #FOSS #blog #reading

#DailyBloggingChallenge (58/100)Account #isolation #security (continues)Account isolation doesn’t just have to be on the device level, but can also be done on the software level like the #browser. The benefit of using multiple browsers is that #cookies cannot cross browsers: making the pesky #trackers be browser bound and making browser fingerprinting harder to achieve. This will give oneself an edge on personal data protection. Some browsers have the option to use containers, though it can feel like the overview is quickly lost and potentially it could be a bigger strain on the device.Browser suggestions: #Firefox #LibreWolf #DuckDuckGo #Tor #Safari #Vanadium #Brave #Edge #ChromeOne should choose the browser dependent on the login credentials one will be using. For example if one will be using Google services like #Gmail or #YouTube, then the obvious choice is Chrome.#infosec #DataPrivacy #BrowserFingerprinting #DataProtection

#DailyBloggingChallenge (80/100)Choosing the right tool for the task depends on the future requirements.Take for example #hiking on a puddle filled path. Ideally, one would either have waterproof boots or an extra pair of shoes to change into.If neither is applicable, then one can try to construct an optimal route with various hops to mitigate as much water contact as possible. Or one could just as well take off the shoes plus socks and do the trail #barefoot.Doing a trail barefoot is no simple feat, since one needs to regularly train the foot muscles and harden the foot sole skin. Otherwise one will tire out too quickly and/or cannot keep the pace of the other hikers. Additionally, one will need to put a stricter focus on where one steps, not only to avoid additional pain from landing on sharp rocks, but also to avoid unnecessary slipping and twisting of the foot. Thus, if possible one should avoid stepping on mud, first because unknown objects can be hiding underneath it and secondly it can create a slick surface, thereby increasing the potential of falling and/or injury.#fitness #rucking #Harz #nationalpark #nature #outdoors

@tripu it feels like they want to put a GPL license on to media from what I gathered from the video. Wondering if that is necessary considering Creative Commons already exist?

#DailyBloggingChallenge (122/200)The only benefit of having a #cold room during the #winter is that if one has comfortably dressed oneself warm, more than likely, one will be able to go outside without any additional layers for a couple of minutes.A cold room is categorized as a room when one can wear the clothes for outside comfortably inside, e.g. coat, hat, gloves, thick socks, snow pants, etc.

#DailyBloggingChallenge (123/200)Further supposedly it boosts the sleep quality on average, especially if the temperature range is between 15 - 18 °C.Though this is only true, if one has warm enough covers to counteract the coolness like a weighted blanket or a sleeping bag.#sleepquality

#DailyBloggingChallenge (124/200)The best technique to stay warm in a cold room is cocooning while sleeping. This technique consists of creating a cocoon around one’s body and a sleeping bag has this shape prebuilt into its structure. The downside of going without a sleeping bag is that one is more prone to breaking out during #sleep, since most people shift during slumber. The setup I follow is: first a sleeping bag, on top of that a crochet merino wool weighted blanket, and finally a cover to entrap the rest of the heat that could have left through the crochet holes.

#DailyBloggingChallenge (125/200)The benefits of a weighted blanket arise from the benefits of pressure therapy, which has its origins in deep massage therapy. This means that the extra weight of the blanket is a passive method of still raking in the benefits from a deep massage. This might be the optimal solution for individuals who have social anxiety and/or hate being touched. The irony is that individuals that can benefit the most from pressure therapy is exactly the same crowd that avoids human-to-human interaction the most. These are individuals on the #autism spectrum and/or combating #depression and/or #anxiety.Through the application of pressure one’s heart rate is reduced thereby putting the individual into a relaxed or recovery state. Once in such a state, #sleep quality can improve, thereby making the initial conditions more manageable.#PressureTherapy #DeepMassage

#DailyBloggingChallenge (126/200)Though this is all good as long as one doesn’t get claustrophobic in the sleeping. That can then have the opposite effect. There are two options to deal with this. The obvious one is to not use a sleeping bag. The other option is to use one that is wider and permits more movement.#claustrophobia #SleepingBag

#DailyBloggingChallenge (136/200)TIL in psychology that we retain all information up to 0.5s before filtering away the unnecessary data. This was shown through an experiment where subjects were shown 4 characters for 50ms and asked to recall the information. The active recall is where most of the data transfer was lost.

#DailyBloggingChallenge (137/200)When looking at short term memory, a portion of it is the active working memory. One way to look at the active working memory is like matrix multiplication.Let’s say one gets a 5 digit number. It is fairly simple to return that number in the same order as given, which would equate to the identity matrix. If one had to invert the order of number, then the diagonal of the matrix would be flipped compared to the identity matrix, so equating to a negative determinant. Now imagine if one had to do more complex calculations like ordering the months of the year alphabetically. Creating a matrix that transposes the months vector is initially not that simple, though once instantiated, it becomes quite simple to repeat.Depending on how many row alterations are needed, starting from the identity matrix could be a way to quantify the complexity of the task.#ShortTermMemory #ActiveWorkingMemory #memory #matrix #MatrixMultiplication #maths

This past season foraged about 2 kg of #hazelnuts. Today did the float test to weed out the empty shells and the yield dropped down to a total of 20 nuts, which equates to about 3% success rate assuming they aren't empty.#foraging
