@stux As far as I understand it, that's correct. A BlueSky PDS is just your data repository. To actually view any timelines, at minimum you would also need to run an AppView to ingest the event stream from the PDS, contextualize it, and display those events to the user. I'm not sure if this is a currently supported configuration either... I'm far from a guru on this tho so corrections are appreciated if I'm wrong.

@HeavenlyPossum It's 100% the side effects of DODGY. The market nationwide is absolutely FLOODED with MREs right now - I've seen single-case prices of military MREs as low as $35 online for 12 meals that'll last a decade+. Last year, they were easily *double* that or more.The ones you linked specifically are HDRs, or Humanitarian Daily Rations... These are the MREs we used to give out as foreign aid. They're a little different than a military MRE but still made to the same quality standards by many of the same suppliers.Now is an *excellent* time to buy if you don't have any disaster readiness supplies.

@phoronix Hmm. Not necessarily opposed to clearer rules about how such contributions could be made... but tbqh I'd rather not see the same sort of deep codebase enshittification that's absolutely plaguing Windows right now. Ultimately I would rather see the Kernel team outright reject AI slop.

@minrk The way they label the scale on a lot of water heater thermostats make no freaking sense, I still don't understand why they label them this way but it's been that way for decades. So each mark is *supposed* to be 10°F apart, with HOT being 120°F. If you want it hotter, A = 130°F, B = 140°F, C = 150°F, and VERY HOT = 160°F. You generally shouldn't go any lower than HOT to prevent the growth of some pretty nasty bacteria in the tank... The low setting is typically used when you know you won't be home for an extended period of time, like when you go on a long vacation.

@darkrat @EtherealResonance I'm pretty sure it is AI, unfortunately. The attachment ring on the collar is shaped weirdly and nebulously blurry, as is the badge holder attachment to said ring. The way the badge attaches to the ring is weird as well, with webbing the same color as the collar going through the lanyard hole in the badge holder instead of some sort of clip like in the real world. I've also never seen a square badge and badge holder before. Also the keyboard is positioned weird in the background and appears to be bendy in the way that real keyboards are not... It couldn't be two keyboards side-by-side as the one on the right has the directional arrow keys centered between the rat and the edge of the frame, meaning the left edge of the keyboard should be on the other side of the rat, but the geometry doesn't match up.It's a really cute idea, don't get me wrong! But yeah, 98% sure it's AI generated.
