Until China finds a way to openly prove to external critics that their leadership is mostly free of nepotistic corruption, as an outsider, I must err on the side of caution and assume that an informal dynasty persists around which political power is centralized.

Reminds me of Kim Stanley Robinson in Ministry for the Future (2020) regarding how economics is just a calculator, both efficiencies and inefficiencies come in bad and good flavors, and how biosphere health, not profit should be our “objective function”.“Do you ask your calculator what to do with your life?
