@mjg59 @SwiftOnSecurity wild guess: this is for disk encryption "offload" on high end perc controllers. (Where the key for Self Encrypting Drives is stored and handled by the perc)I think that was the recommended approach to prevent boot from non internal devices.I might have screamed a little on that call.

@mjg59 not answering your question, but. Have you seen OpenSSH >= 8.9 agent extension?https://github.com/openssh/openssh-portable/blob/c52db0114826d73eff6cdbf205e9c1fa4f7ca6c6/PROTOCOL.agent#L6If you were to look how not to sign a request with a key on an unknown host. I think that works?

@clive @benbradley that is not what the article reads? They moved the content via internet, the truck crashes relates to the new machines they were installing in their datacenter. Or am I reading that wrong?

@clive @benbradley (to be more specific, aws has a service to move data in to aws (snowmobile), but I’m not sure they have anything to move data out, except by copying it out of storage via the internet)

@mjg59 i just spent 4hours porting a kernel module introduced in 2002 (and left pretty much untouched since) to a new kernel infrastructure, just so I could make udev works correctly with it. I have no idea what you’re talking about.

I’m so happy this xz backdoor was caught by crowdstrike heuristic engine. This makes for such a good demo of their product.

       The reason I'm in love with nix?let inherit (pkgsCross.aarch64-multiplatform) buildUBoot armTrustedFirmwareRK3588;inbuildUBoot { defconfig = "rock5b-rk3588_defconfig"; extraMeta.platforms = [ "aarch64-linux" ]; BL31 = "${armTrustedFirmwareRK3588}/bl31.elf"; ROCKCHIP_TPL = rkbin.TPL_RK3588; filesToInstall = [ "u-boot.itb" "idbloader.img" "u-boot-rockchip.bin" ]; extraConfig = '' # A/B boot scheme CONFIG_ANDROID_AB=y CONFIG_CMD_AB_SELECT=y CONFIG_ANDROID_AB_BACKUP_OFFSET=0x1000 # Measured boot CONFIG_DM_SPI=y CONFIG_TPM2_TIS_SPI=y CONFIG_EFI_TCG2_PROTOCOL=y CONFIG_EFI_TCG2_PROTOCOL_EVENTLOG_SIZE=65536 CONFIG_EFI_TCG2_PROTOCOL_MEASURE_DTB=y # Secure boot CONFIG_EFI_SECURE_BOOT=y '';}There. That's all you need to get a cross-compiled u-boot for a specific board with a custom configuration.And it doesn't get more readable than that.

@rachel @aliss Breaking taps (@breakingtaps) made a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MxH1sfJLBQ) replicating the actuators they made for JWST.The actuator was mind blowing to me (and the video (as any other Mr Taps makes) is amazing too)

@picnoir @luj I might suggest the same thing but caused by a power delivery to the ram instead.

@futurebird @waldoj in the same vein, it infuriates me when a legit business calls me and starts asking identity questions (before delivering the message) when they are the ones calling me, and I have no way to identify them first.I worked in the phone industry, you cannot trust caller id.Businesses need to stop coding scam-like behavior in the procedures their operators have to follow.

@stux you should have used Velcro not zip ties.At least if you want a chance to rewire one day.
