Unrelated to all the other nonsense posted, I'm taking over dm duties for a dnd group and we agreed on playing a vampire game (fun) as a little day project yesterday I made a kind of 'intro credits' sequence. First time I touched blender in a hot minute but its good to make something again.

@n8 in my experience, it pays to know what exactly you want to learn in the moment - there are ton of tools and features that you probably won't be aware of unless you start digging into specifics, and even then a lot of people's workflows just don't deal with them.If you're more interested in something like animation but don't intend on doing much modeling yourself, even more generic videos can help but if you want to get a better grasp on sculpting for example then you obviously need to look to what the tools are and find another artist who might share a similar style to what you are going for.The compositor is really powerful and I feel like a lot of videos just don't even touch it, which is again something that I expect the layperson doesn't even consider.So what are you trying to do first and foremost? Want just a general taste of all the different tools or something focused on creating environments or characters or what?

@n8 if I had one thing to suggest would be to start modeling things first, even just really basic objects - a candelabra or a sword or something. Made it using the primitives (i.e. add cube, move it, add another cube, add a cylinder, etc.) Make a few things and build a basic scene. Go back and remake some things with a little bit more time as single objects - a whole sword as one piece, for example. Redo the scene with a bit more pizzazz. Repeat with some variations and go from there.The shortcuts and controls in blender take a while to get used to, especially if you never used 3d software before and the more comfortable you are with understanding how to manipulate things then your speed just takes off.Basic shit for filmmaking like lighting does wonders because if you look at all the horny posting people do on Twitter, a lot of their renders can appear flat because they just don't know how the fuck to light anything with more than a sun lamp.If you can handle the tism, game dev discords are not a bad place to look. It may not be exactly what you want but a lot of those neets really know their shit and getting direct answers is easy.
