That a few people have asked me if my avatar is the 'horror movie version' suggests things are /just right/.A bit inside the 'uncanny valley' is exactly where I belong, "Aha! That is a living creature like me!…I think?…not so sure…"

Dreamed my father was alive but still seriously decayed.Contrary to reality (where he was unfailingly sweet and polite and told everyone he appreciated them and always aid please and thank you to the people in the hospice home), in the dream he was just /nasty/ to everyone, constantly. I was up there helping take care of him. A gun had gone missing and he was lying on the floor with it next to him and we thought he'd shot himself, but it looked like he'd just picked it up to look at it and then fallen over and dropped it.

@moonbolt And sometimes the 'n' will fall of the 'an' and stick to the following word or vice versa.(a napron → an apron)@dipolecat @IceWolf

The best slogan to ever come out of any part of the left is 'bread and roses'.The idea that the means to survival are not enough, people should expect and demand /beauty/

If anyone asks me why I'm so tall this month, I'm going to say:It was either this or use /tons/ of conditioner and brush myself every day and go to work as the mascot for Microsoft Azure…

@windyorigami The other joke was that I became IBM's mascot.(AKA Big Blue.)Of course the real reason is:BECAUSE.Okay that's not a reason, I just think it's fun to be unusually tall for a month since I'm normally unusually small.

The downside of being this tall is that my workplace is in the garden level (aka the Semibasement) of the building. So to attend meetings I've been having to sit in the parking lot and have everyone come up on the roof. It's two stories 'n change so it's a bit like sitting at a table with people on it.

Romeo + Juliet wasn't /good/But it was, at least, memorable.I kind of liked the way they'd play with the medium of the newscasts/magazines.And have "THIRD CIVIL BRAWL" show up as the title on a TV screen.

@IceWolf It's also just the general nonsense of people trying to create magical, unjustified exceptions to norms against being horrible to people that reveals one doesn't so much wish for horribleness to /stop/ just that the speaker has a different idea of who ‘deserves’ it.

Dismissing/mocking something as weird only ‘works’ because people fail to notice how weird analogous things that are part of mainstream culture are…

A pessimist is someone who thinks the glass is half full.A realist is someone who realizes they can save money by buying smaller glasses next time.

Wow. If medium is going to demand people 'create an account' to be able to read stuff, then it can eat itself, legs first, until it gets to eradicating its mouth in an inside-out pop of autophagy.

@arilin I don't /think/ this is that just because I haven't read any of this person's stories before, as far as I know.Though like you say, they could change it. I know it might sound weird but I object a lot more to needing an account to read something for freethan I do to having to pay. I don't mind paying.

I need a better word for 'inhuman' that isn't so anthropocentric.

@moonbolt I was meaning it a different way. Inhuman as a positive description of departure from a lot of emotional cognitive norms that aren't actually specific to humans but seem to sort of go together.

@LunaDragofelis Human: "Oh, crap, that's weird! And uncomfortable! IT'S GOING TO KILL ME!"Inhuman: "Oh! That's weird and uncomfortable! I'm going to investigate!"Human: "What? This challenges the ideas of identity? Of personhood? Of how people can relate to each other? IT'S GOING TO KILL ME! IT'S EVIL!"Inhuman: "Well, on reflection I can't really justify the beliefs I had that it was challenging…I'm going to investigate!"Human: "I can't understand how anyone could POSSIBLY like/think/do X, thy must have something wrong with them."Inhuman: "I wonder if can get in the right headspace to really feel the way people who like/think/do X feel…"Human: "That's a bunch of noise and chaos! I don't like it."Inhuman: "I wonder if I can find a pattern in there…"I think I might just be thinking of the reciprocal of 'openness to experience'.@moonbolt

@LunaDragofelis And just really dislike it when people think 'freak out' is an appropriate response to something they don't 'get'.@moonbolt
