@Are0h I respectfully disagree, assuming I have correctly understood your point (if not, please correct me). The entire point of the #fediverse is exactly that - you CAN have both. Bigots will always exist and they will find themselves banned where they are the minority, and then they will gravitate to servers (#instances) where they are a majority, and then bigot-minority servers will #fediban those bigot-majority servers. This is an elegant design that moots any debate about censorship.

This preserves interaction with the broader #fediverse while also allowing finer-grained control via #fediban over malicious actors and toxic adversariesI think you will find having your own #instance will massively amplify your power over the bigots

@wjmaggos I think you aren't taking another factor into account: #monetization. It's possible to monetize your social in the corporate silos. The #fedi is lacking here. Even #wordpress had a boost in adoption due to affiliate links, esp #amazon When the #fediverse figures out a monetization paradigm, then it will.be a viable alternative to the walled gardens.
