Random thought I had when trying to fall asleep yesterday: what if SRV records had gained adoption in early web browsers?Network operators may never have bothered with locking down networks by firewalling everything except port 80 and 443 - it would have blocked too much. SNI may not have become a thing, we'd just use a different port per virtual host. TLS and HTTP2 protocol negotiation might have been much simpler too. :blobcatthinking:

Zig ditching Github in favor of Codeberg had another beneficial side effect: the HN comments on that announcement were so offensively missing the point that it's completely cured my HN addiction. Haven't opened the site even once in the past 3 weeks.
