One of the things I would miss here on Mastodon was all of the alerts from my local infrastructure and government twitter accounts. These will likely take a very long time to make the migration. With https://bird.makeup, you can create bot accounts that put those tweets in your Mastodon timeline. For instance, I follow the Washington State Patrol account for regional weather related road closures and accident reports:@wspd7pio

@christopher I'm not sure about the load status bar, @vincent is the owner of the project.

@BikingViking @wspd7pio It may take some time for the bridge to start pulling content from twitter. That seems to be the nature of federation? The project's creator @vincent would have better insight into how often tweets are brought across.

@grammargirl I'm pretty sure thats what their "digital persona" is. It's just mapping your eyes onto a digital twin, and I doubt it cares about your physical orientation.

@grammargirl my PCs and Macs are all on BackBlaze. I even use their B2 service for my Synology NAS. Has been rock solid and I've even had them ship me a hard drive of my backup files when I had a hard crash once. Was very easy.

I got to thinking about the word âoakenâ last night, as in âsomething made of oak.â I started to wonder if there were specific words for items made from other types of wood, and couldn't come up with any. I thought about this for a long time as I drifted off to sleep.Still bugging me this morning, I did a bit of research and came up with âcedarn,â âashen,â âbirchen,â and âfirry.â But I couldn't find words for other common species of wood⊠Maplen? Mohaganen? Pined? Hickoried? #woodworking #wood

This "texture healing" technique is really impressive. It uses OpenTypeâs contextual alternate glyphs, usually seen in stylistic embellishments such as swash caps or ligatures. With Monaspace, they dynamically adjust the widths of characters in a MONOSPACED face, while still respecting the monospace grid. It's pretty wild. The website has a neat interactive step-by-step visualization on how it works. Also, comes in 5 faces!https://monaspace.githubnext.comvia @idan & @rileycran #Typography #FontDesign

@palafo A good question to throw over to @grammargirl. âThumbed upâ sounds weird to me, but follows âzipped up.' Is âthumb upped' better?

@grammargirl @palafo What about flipping it around? "One of the most up-thumbed shows."

Redmond turns off #FlockSafety cameras after ICE arrests"For now, all Redmond police officersâ access to the cityâs Flock data has been turned off. Two Police Department employees can access the data, but only to fulfill public records requests, and two police administrators can access â but not search â the data. A âdisconnect signalâ was also sent Tuesday morning to all of the cameras, which will stop them from taking and storing photos"https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/law-justice/redmond-turns-off-flock-safety-cameras-after-ice-arrests/
