@mystik @atoponce @Horizon_Innovations @hicks These could be a rare side effects from a vaccine! Or they could be unrelated coincidences. Hard to say from a random internet video. Regardless of which it is, there are non-negligible long term risks associated with COVID-19 (along with death). All studies (so far) indicate the risk of side-effects from the vaccines are quite small compared to letting a random bat-virus have its way with you. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-long-term-effects/art-20490351https://www.wral.com/fact-check-women-claim-covid-vaccine-causes-uncontrollable-shaking/19483907/

@mystik Good question! There are rare side-effects to all of the vaccines. Therefore, a 100% recovery rate is unlikely—however the statistic I was replying to used a 99.8% (in reality 97% - 99.75%) recovery rate for COVID-19, which was only considering deaths.Since I can find no verified deaths from an mRNA vaccine, I put the recovery rate at 100%. There are deaths that happen after the COVID-19 vaccine, but all indications are they are normal within the population.https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-mrna-vaccines-idUSKCN2AU2KR

@mystikThe distinction I was trying to make was between "deaths after vaccination" and "deaths caused by vaccination". If you vaccinate enough people, especially old people, some of them are going to die afterwards."A review of available clinical information, including death certificates, autopsy, and medical records, has not established a causal link to COVID-19 vaccines"https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/adverse-events.html

@mystikActually, the symptoms are fairly distinct! Of course there's a lot of similarities too.https://www.cdc.gov/flu/symptoms/symptoms.htm

@mystikRegardless, that chart does seem to have quite a few differences between the flu and COVID-19. Shortness of breath, chest pain, rapid breathing, ect.

@mystik Actually, that's a common misconception. SARS‑CoV‑2 has been isolated many times by various teams in different parts of the world. In fact that is part of how they check what mutations have occurred.https://fullfact.org/health/Covid-isolated-virus/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severe_acute_respiratory_syndrome_coronavirus_2

@mystik So, Here are the links (from the fact check I posted) about different teams isolating the virus. Maybe you find these more convincing?https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/26/6/20-0516_articlehttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7045880/https://theconversation.com/i-study-viruses-how-our-team-isolated-the-new-coronavirus-to-fight-the-global-pandemic-133675

@mystik I trust the majority of doctors, scientists, and experts that say that virus's exist and we can isolate them. Given that you don't, I don't see how much further we can get discussing this. But I do have to ask, if there is no SARS‑CoV‑2: What about all of the overfull hospitals during virus outbreaks in various parts of the world?

@mystik Well, I'm just a stranger on the internet, but I actually do have a number of friends who are doctors in Germany (granted south-Germany), and the stories they tell are quite different. I trust my friends a lot more than this guy.

@mystik There's no shortage of videos on the internet showing the exact opposite. I have friends/family who work in hospitals in the States as well, they also confirm that things in some places got really bad.

@Horizon_InnovationsI'm not an expert–I'm just doing my best to echo the consensus of experts (Which is that the all COVID Vaccines released so far are safe/effective) I understand why you think those links say that there are Covid vaccines utilizing gene therapy, but if you read them they don't.@atoponce

@Horizon_Innovations @atoponce https://asgct.org/research/news/november-2020/covid-19-moderna-nih-vaccine really does seem to indicate that the Vacinee Candidates (at that point) were utilizing gene therapy—However, this indication isn't enough overcome the actual text + videos on the page which clearly show that the genes are not modified in cells receiving the mRNA.

@Horizon_Innovations https://academic.oup.com/intimm/advance-article/doi/10.1093/intimm/dxab013/6194108 Does have "utilizing gene therapy technology" in the title, but if you read more of the paper, you see that they are stating that they are using technology developed for gene therapy, but not modifying the genes in anyway. Nowhere does it indicate that any approved vaccines are modifying cells' genes.

@Horizon_Innovations https://www.fda.gov/vaccines-blood-biologics/cellular-gene-therapy-products/what-gene-therapy"Gene therapy is a technique that modifies a person’s genes to treat or cure disease."These vaccines are less invasive than SARS-CoV-2, because viruses infect your cells with DNA/RNA in order to take control, but aren't concerned with whether if you (or the cell) survive or not.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virus"When infected, a host cell is forced to rapidly produce thousands of copies of the original virus." @aralNot everyone can manage self hosting. Ultimately, the problems come down to modern software being to brittle, having too many bugs, and not being user friendly enough. It's sad because you're right, we shouldn't be paying with our freedom–but the reality is in order for someone to have access to modern services someone needs to be patching/updating/debugging/tweaking and paying.

@aralI've only poked around on your website a bit, but you're making a web application right? I think just running a debian server with nodejs on it is well beyond the reach of most people (In order to host sitejs). But maybe I'm missing something?
