       Suji Yan has acquired #Pawoo, making him the largest owner of #Mastodon (and fediverse) instances. I suspect Pawoo changed hands for reasons similar to mstdn.jp and mastodon.cloud: to avoid #legal liabilities for not moderating enough (remember Pawoo's domain was briefly suspended in September? Also, the latter two were sold amid legislative efforts to combat #cyberbullying in #Japan ). This, be it recentralization or #moderation, should concern all #fediverse (especially #Japanese) users.

       Many are either oversimplifying this as a funding issue or making blatant assumptions on that guy's character, while missing the main point: #instances have been sold (as in the case) or shut down (switter.at) on liability grounds. The #fediverse does not operate in a vacuum, and everyone must abide by all sorts of #law.  @privacat has an excellent guide on GDPR for #mastoadmin, and I'm sure there are many other #legal aspects (esp. with handling speech) to consider.

       What drivel is this "smart #gun"? How does that prevent the tragedy that allegedly inspired the idea?        @Pinnkhun 依据 https://www.neboer.site/nerchat/docs/client/nelement.html ，只是fork了官方的Element，且开源。源代码里看不出什么问题。当然具体还要取决于题主是哪里下载的，且站长是否对代码有未公开的改动。但是这个服有点可疑……笔者测试时似乎屏蔽大部分国外流量（国内OK），不能联通（至少不能和主流各服联通），所以强烈建议远离（毕竟Matrix不加密元数据）。如果想要入Matrix但不想使用官服，可参见笔者编纂的 https://joinmatrix.org/servers （请自行掂量对各服的信任度）。cc. @board @sthfloating
