Feels strange to utilise a degoogled phone now. Well, guess that's anarchy.

@getimiskon isn't Poast hosting a Misskey instance literally named "Pisskey.io" actually?

It's getting a bit nerve-wracking to self host stuff, but on the other hand I'm unsure if there's a better home for my presence.Starnix seemed fine, but it seems people are peeved not at what actually happens, but by the fact that there is no overarching moderation in case of mild annoyances (that some could call harassment). I'm not there because "free zpeech my politic oponion!!!" as much as just to be in a place with no general topic or obligations.

@eric I think what offends people is the way the instance essentially says "in case people get harassed, we trust they will use necessary tools to stifle these actions"; people perceive it as "We don't care, sort it out yourself." (so it's free speech?!!!!!!)I personally agree with it as it allows the user to decide with their sufficient tools (block, mute, so on) and not a dogmatic presence, though it's understandable (even if disagreeable) that people want more moderation intervention. Is that enough to disallow innocent folks caught in the crossfire from communicating to one another, I really don't think so; haven't we had enough world wars in the past five years to prove that citizens just want to live and the problem is with their governments? Why not use that analogy to say and understand the users of an instance just want to have fun regardless of their administrator(s)?

@eric "The Touhou community is better than the Ultrakill community."(note that I have said that once before, and it quite literally caused drama five minutes later.)

cool, AMD GPU problem with Linux. whenever it runs out of VRAM, the whole system crashes and shows screen artifacts, making it impossible to use.

@eric I'm not certain. Just running a desktop environment with either a demanding game or an AI (that doesn't limit its VRAM) is enough to kill it

@eric yeah, my stuff probably uses ROCm then. this is strange, I tried looking up this issue for Arch and got nothing. (also found out ComfyUI/Stable Diffusion keeps various models loaded into memory after changing them so I disabled that)I seriously doubt the effectiveness of it but I'm going to try running extended memtests while I'm away, but the 5-minute test passed without problems..

@eric Two more likely solutions (at this point I'm making notes for myself more than anything):- Disabling rebar/above 4G decoding in UEFI, as per https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/2722- Installing mesa-tkg-git instead of base mesa

Yeah I might have to shut this instance down.Might move back to Starnix or start looking for other instances that generally don't care about what one does.

I'll move over to Starnix for the time being and leave this instance up for one more week. In the meantime, a bit of a demand for assistance to whoever finds this: are there any other instances that have a sort of "anything goes" attitude that doesn't impose a specific mindset or topic?
