@boilingsteam Mailfence for me. Would have gone with Proton, but at the time it didn't support searching through body text. I'd gotten to using that feature quite a bit, so it was a dealbreaker.

@boilingsteam This is more than a bit frustrating, if only because I was really *really* hoping for better XBGP support on the Deck. 😐 Seems pretty unlikely if this is the direction MS is choosing to take.

@boilingsteam Not sure what I expected. I suppose I was just feeling naive and unrealistically hopeful after they made that smol amount of effort to have Edge and XCloud play nice with the Deck. :/

Decided on a whim tonight to set up Owncast so that I could stream some early game Blasphemous to friends while we were sitting in voice chat. I'm super impressed with how straightforward the experience was. The hosted site was easy for folks to access, and I'm told the stream quality was great as well. This was a VERY welcome change from Discord refusing to screen share in Linux, and has me considering some more casual streaming in the future~#streaming #gaming #owncast

@s31bz I'm not 100% sure how I feel about revolt as an alternative. On one hand it's the closest in general style and feel, but on the other hand they seem to really want folks using the primary service (rather than self hosted) if possible - which is kind of how we got into this spot with Discord in the first place. 😕That all said, probably still going to set up an instance myself since it really feels like Discord's been circling the drain lately.

@nergal I haven't tried Jitsi yet, but the ease of use and streamlined feature set is a huge part for peeps I keep in touch with. Lots of "oh, folks are chatting" and hopping in, able to open up game streams and broadcast their own activity with minimal effort.

@nergal In particular, a lot of the appeal is specifically having it all integrated into one setup. You don't have to install or launch a separate application or browser window to stream gameplay to others or do some screen sharing while in a voice call.Additionally I'm pretty sure that Discord supports hardware encoding on the screen sharing front. (Using NVENC and the like) No idea if Jitsi supports that or not.

Hey folks, looking for some assistance from those smarter than I am.Does anyone have a detailed idea of exactly how Mastodon stores media attachments? For example, if I post a link to an image hosted elsewhere will it still render the image while only storing it as a text hyperlink?I’d like to somehow get back to minis photos without worrying about them eating up our servers db space. (As minuscule as said costs may be)#softwareDev #fediverse #mastodon #selfHosted #devsOfMastodon
