@stitchandsew Hey. I don't really have the time to document them, but I have some names popping in my mind I can drop if you're interested.

@stitchandsew Ok, here you go:Crystal Viper (heavy metal)Warlock (heavy metal)Doro (heavy metal, singer of Warlock with a solo career too)Battlelore (tolkien inspired heavy/epic metal with male/female singing, worth a listen)Arch Enemy (death metal)Theatre of Tragedy (started as Goth Metal, but wandered a lot and changed the singer a few times I think; first singer, Liv Christine, has been part of a few other band that I do not know)Eths (metalcore)Tristania (Goth/symphonic metal)Sirenia (Goth/Symphonic metal)ElvenStorm (Heavy Metal)Huntress (Heavy Metal)Lawlessness (Hard Rock/Heavy Metal)Therion (symphonic, not sure about that one for you thread: this is not specifically a female singer, but lot of female involvment in the music)Sigh (avant-garde black metal, has a female singer since 2008, but this after most of what I know from them, so I don't know the extent of her part)I guess that the obvious like Within Temptation or Nightwish are on your todo list already? So here are the few names I could gather, but I have to say that my blasting metal days are now quite a few years away, I already had to go through my music folder to remember some names, and I really feel like othter have already faded away in my memory’s everthickening mist.

I don't have much interest in youth/young adult literature, but honestly, when the covers are as gorgeous as that, I kinda get tempted to read the books.

@ray It is, isn't?And an image doesn't even do justice to the orange one, the physical cover is made with a shining copper/red gold material.

@ray I am back at home, so no access to these right now, and the extract on the publisher website does not contain the credits. I will check that tomorrow if I can find something.

Impact factor abandoned by Dutch university in hiring and promotion decisions — Naturehttps://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-01759-5A Dutch university says it is formally abandoning the impact factor — a standard measure of scientific success — in all hiring and promotion decisions. By early 2022, every department at Utrecht University in the Netherlands will judge its scholars by other standards, including their commitment to teamwork and their efforts to promote open science, says Paul Boselie, a governance researcher and the project leader for the university’s new Recognition and Rewards scheme. “Impact factors don’t really reflect the quality of an individual researcher or academic,” he says. “We have a strong belief that something has to change, and abandoning the impact factor is one of those changes.”#academy #openscience

Ok.Why in frelling hell does our ILS, when exporting book records in .xls (and maybe other formats, haven't checked), export the ISBN's and replacing 0's by O's in it. And that is the only field in which it does that, all the other fields with 0's in it are absolutely fine. Why would you do that???#librarianproblems

Amazon is always watchinghttps://www.cnn.com/2022/10/02/tech/amazon-product-event/index.htmlA TV that knows when you’re in and out of the room. A gadget that monitors your breathing pattern while you sleep. An enhanced voice assistant tool that highlights just how much it knows about your everyday life. At an invite-only press event last week, Amazon unveiled a long list of product updates ahead of the holiday shopping season that appear designed to further insert its gadgets and services into every corner of our homes with the apparent goal of making everything a little easier. But the event was also another reminder of just how much Amazon’s many products are watching us.Dystopian future isn't future. It's present.
