@StevenDouglas @Zentrification @Canadian4Trump Some of his tics are silly. He says that sort of thing and we know he's being disingenuous, he admits to using hyperbole in those cases to emphasise a point. I suppose it's meant to be disarming to show a couple of your simple tricks...I find him interesting as part of a balanced diet, but for a clear-eyed critic of the media, he certainly swallowed the premise of the Capitol insurrection, before apparently walking it back.

@StevenDouglas I heard this today and did switch off when he raised the subject. He tried it on a year or 2 ago and the anger he apparently still feels about the injustice of jocks kicking sand in his face at school cut against any persuasion. If you shared his resentment, maybe it works? He hates sport, knows nothing about it and doesn't "get it"Watching here it's creepy to see his calm, soothing, neutral, "we're just talking here" intro, but by the end he's clearly simmering with emotion.

Have you known him to clumsily phrase an important statement, ensuring that millions of his party’s supporters misinterpret him? He is as likely to have meant what these people think he meant as he is to have meant his words literally. Then again he might have been purposefully ambiguous.

Otherwise, the corruption will reconstitute itself like the T-1000. It seems like a long shot that the cultural rot can be overcome without a dark age in between times. But we might find out soon either way.

@timr @Notevensure @JJ @ThomasWic @StevenDouglas I enjoy Duane's stuff, but from what I saw, JJ (who I don't follow) made his position clear, and Duane got pissy: he said something like "your position is REJEC-TED" or some such entertaining bombast. JJ stood his ground, and quite reasonably, challenged Duane to be accountable for his claims.
