@koba_ape_leader almost certainly not anything this extreme. The reality is always more mundane. The most realistic model of what role teachers play in social contagion is being very enthusiastically supportive of any mention of being 'different'. Students notice the attention gradient and naturally go up it. Leaving the credulous teacher none the wiser of their impact on the kids. From the perspective of these teachers they're just being supportive and seeing tons of their students come out as gender nonconforming. School teachers simply aren't smart enough to be doing anything so machievelian.
