@entreprecariat It was nice meeting you briefly in Malmö :) One thing important to me is name pronunciation. Ask the guest in advance for pronunciation guidance instead of assuming and saying it badly to a large audience during the event. In a long line-up of talks, people with non-western names have it harder to make themselves memorable.

@entreprecariat oh yes! That too! Sorry to hear. I’ve also had peeps take the liberty to shorten my name in official documents because they can’t bother learning to spell 🤦🏽♀️

I’m so excited! I made Victorian-inspired pockets attached to a waistband (w velcro). Women’s pockets in the 1800s could accommodate everything from gin flasks, telescopes, to botanical maps and sewing accessories‼️I made my pockets comically large to make a point, so, it fits everything I need - my phone, charging cable, wallet, comb, hand sanitizer, a tiny notebook, and my e-reader. If this sticks, it will be a game changer 👜🚫

@arturo182 printed Dummy 13 and left it on my study desk. I obviously had to make furniture for it. It’s too much fun ;)Dummy 13 on printables: https://www.printables.com/model/622290-dummy-13-beta-on-runners-easier-to-print

Fun things I did at #37c3 thread. Soldered the TV-B-Gone kit designed by Mitch Altman. It can turn off any TV as long as you are facing it. Yes, it works even in public! https://learn.adafruit.com/tv-b-gone-kit/parts-list

Attended the KillYourPhone workshop and made a phone signal blocking pouch using some HF+LF blocking fleece. I tested it and it completely cuts out all signals (no bars). The workshop is run by Aram Bartholl since 2013, celebrating 10 years. https://killyourphone.com/

I learned to dye fabric indigo using simple wooden shapes. It was fun to get my hands wet and messy. Still smells like vinegar.

I met the maker of this awesome magnet-based sand drawing machine. He and I are working on building and testing a smaller version of this table. I’m hoping to draw kolams/sona drawings with it.

For #ohs2024, I made crochet fortune cookies with NFC tags stuffed inside. These generate customized open hardware fortunes when tapped :) I had fun making this project with left over scrap yarn, simple p5js code and reprogrammable tags. I had

A friend gifted me this postcard with patterns from her recent visit to Japan. Little did I know this artwork titled ‘Colored glasses of Hokusai II’ is an interpretation of Hokusai’s Moyo Gafu (design sketchbook) containing his drawings of dyeing patterns. Now I’m obsessed with each and every one of his experiments with shapes and patterns, spatial tiling, rotation, repetitions, and symmetry 😍https://ndlsearch.ndl.go.jp/en/imagebank/theme/hokusaimoyo

Down the internet rabbit hole, i’m finding cool resources and archives to understand Hokusai’s geometry and craft philosophy https://olymp.hse.ru/data/2019/03/19/1186869344/%D0%90%D0%AF_%D0%BD%D0%B5%20%D1%86%D0%B2%D0%B5%D1%82%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F.pdfhttps://gauss.math.yale.edu/public_html/People/frame/Fractals/Panorama/Art/Hokusai/Hokusai.htmlhttps://zenchantique.com/hokusai-design-patterns/

Swedish level one exams are done and finally a got a day to breathe. I decided to work only with my hands today - no screens allowed. I made some progress on my crochet vest project and rescued a tee with this quick and fun @FoxesInLove inspired appliqué — based on Birgitta and Sam’s new book ‘Sewing with Scraps’.
