       @david_chisnall @josephholsten @whitequark > In particular, their use of AGPL for the code means that they (who require a CLA that lets them relicense the code and so are not bound by it) are the only people who can distribute their app via the Apple App Store, so if they decide to remove it from a country then every iOS user is suddenly unable to access the network.I don't quite see how this is a problem of AGPL and not of CLA and/or Apple. How can requiring modifications to be published mean the publisher gets more power? That doesn't make any sense.

       Writing SQL in all caps always felt bit weird, but now that I'm beginning to see some complex queries (reading postgres doc) I'm feeling that writing in caps might be a good idea

       Hey @p, in this code, won't the inner err always get ignored (and the check is meaningless) ?err = d.Decode(t)if err == nil {if rsp.StatusCode > 399 {err = fmt.Errorf("Got HTTP %d getting token", rsp.StatusCode)}} else {return nil, err}err = a.VerifyToken(t)return t, err}

       @sapphire @theorytoe @EdBoatConnoisseur @prettygood @Kyonko802 A few days and it'll start growing sprouts! you do have to change water every day, and rinse it properly. I kinda hate the sprouted bean taste but a lot of people here swear by it.

       GDB: this is cool!Another thing you can do is to examine all the values that have been examined in the past. Every value examined gets put on the “value history.” You can refer to any element in the history by its numerical position, or you can easily refer to the last element with just dollar-sign. And this makes it much easier to trace list structure. If you have any kind of C structure that contains a pointer to another one, you can do something like PRINT *$.next, which says: “Get the next field out of the last thing you showed me, and then display the structure that points at.”

       > It's also transparent to communicate across networks. You think that you're directly calling another domain, but really you're calling the network server domain. It takes the information that you gave in the call, and passes this over the network to another server program which then calls the domain that you're trying to talk to. But you and that other domain see this as happening invisibly.OH MY GOD

       > People always ask me “When is it going to be finished?” Of course I can't know when it's going to be finished, but that's the wrong question to ask me. If you were planning to pay for it, it would make sense for you to want to know exactly what are you going to get and when. But since you're not going to pay for it, the right question for you to ask is “how can you help make it get finished sooner?”https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/stallman-kth.en.html

       > And then there are all the people who use computers and say that the computers are a mystery to them, they don't know [how] they work. Well how can they possibly know? They can't read the programs they're using. The only way people learn how programs should be written, or how programs do what they do, is by reading the source code.> So I could only wonder whether the idea of the user who just thinks of the computer as a tool is not actually a self-fulfilling prophecy, a result of the practice of keeping source code secret.https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/stallman-kth.en.html

       @prettygood @allison > The "security area director" continued that "you cherry-picking when to call consensus evaluation 'voting' depending on whether misnaming this is in your advantage ... is dishonestly manipulative"; that I was violating the "code of conduct"; and that if I did not "voluntarily stop this kind of behaviour" there would be "measures under the terms of RFC3934 which is part of BCP25".The CoC strikes again!

       @sophieschmieg The section on "there's no backdoor, i can prove it" is horseshit. The 56 bit key size of DES was a backdoor. Dual EC DRBG was a backdoor. Re-defining backdoor to be "a magical secret key that magically decrypts any encrypted message" is just pure nonsense.
