@dushman @mangeurdenuage It's Modern Operating Systems, a book by Andrew Tanenbaum. i've started reading these non-fiction books a few weeks ago, before that i'd only read fiction :D

@marcan the article says: > On the client side, B-CAS is typically implemented by a card that plugs into a compatible receiver, or alternatively by a tuner card that plugs into a computer.and videolan says:> After full reception of EMM, the B-CAS Card ID will be matched and processing done by the card.so, it is exactly as the article is saying? the processing part is done by the card which is proprietary ?am i missing something here?

@r yeah i often use it. i like seeing an empty notification page. If you think it shouldn't be there, then i think you should also remove the ClearNotifcations function in notification.go; nothing uses it

@pomstan @r @Moon is it bad? i don't know much about webdev; it seemed simpler to do this than to wrap it in a form element; but if using a form element is proper, i'll do that

@wolf480pl @amolith yeah the fsf's article says how removing _only_ copyright after 5 years is bad -- they should also do something about the eulas(and other things) on software and that those should be done first to ensure user's freedom.i do agree on some points on the original article, mostly the same as you.

@nyx @cryborg not where i live. people just bear with it, adding ssds to make things faster. Also people use their phones a lot more for common tasks nowadays. even making pdfs, invoices, spreadsheets, and what not.

@lanodan @cryborg well the current thinkpad i'm using, i bought for $80 + shipping. Where i live, you cannot find laptops for less than $300. And don't even think about second hand market, that exists only for mobile phones and not for desktops/laptops. I've often been jealous how i can't easily import stuff from USA because the price for computers there (mostly 2nd handed, i don't need new) are much more cheaper than i could imagine being the case here.

@coolboymew It's retarded that companies can just take money out of your account. the way it works here is that they can never do that -- if you forget to pay, you'll immediately terminate the service (perhaps temporarily). That should be the standard, imo. Then you could use the recurring payment feature of your bank (app) to automatically pay them, or cancel, or whatever. The shit's just wild -- how can companies take money from your bank account wtf
