@1312161etc @riotmuffin @hakan_geijer I can add "Might just be a completely made up persona" to my list of reasons not to trust someone now I guess. Like how the fuck can we trust one another given all the ways people can be publicly shitty, privately shitty, and now I guess also not even real people in the first place? I have no idea how to build trust with and in people at this point

@eeveelyn @changeling All religions make supernatural claims. There is nothing supernatural in the world so those claims are irrational. Contradictory and irrational belief systems can be used to justify literally anything, so they can always be used by those with power to justify unethical and authoritarian things.

@eeveelyn @changeling I don't care what society considers rational or irrational, but there is a real world out there that exists and statements and arguments about it can be true or false and that matters. The supernatural does not exist.Irrationalism is a necessary condition for fascism. To reject the possibility of truth in favor of narratives is to take a step down that path.

I am convinced that information control and destruction of accurate models of reality is one of THE fundamental tools of creating and maintaining hierarchies. Companies lie about recycling conjuring up an image of perfect reuse so everything's environmentally friendly :). When in reality it's mostly into a landfill with everything else. "We humanely kill our animals" while passing legislation to make it illegal to show footage of actual grisly conditions of slaughterhouses and absurdity of the notion of "humane murder" of innocents. Expanding the meanings of words that describe facets of power and control to meaninglessness and universality (On Authority for instance), or redefining words so narrowly that they can never actually occur (everyone knows REAL abuse is when...). From selectively telling truths to misleading statistics and graphs to things that are just completely made the fuck up. Framing accurate critiques of the world as hysterical and fundamentally emotional and so false. Decades of propaganda by the fossil fuel industry to discredit climate science. Tortured prisoners on film being forced to say they are being treated well. Better give the church money or you won't make it into heaven. "Unions only exist to take your hard-earned money". Patriotic Education or Deutsche Physik. "Antifa are the real fascists". Potemkin Villages. Youth indoctrination. Doctored Footage. False Flags. Historical revisionism. Banned Books. Book Burnings. DARVO. Gaslighting. Genocide. Segregation. Borders. Prisons. The list goes on and on and on. Anything or anyone that notes the inaccuracy and/or the damage done by that will be equivocated, minimized, obfuscated, denied, shamed, fought, destroyed, ignored, suppressed, slandered, defamed, or justified rather than accepted.Not that all of those things have information control and the spread of inaccurate models of the world as their primary goal, but my point is that they are at least a component. For this reason as well as others I think the pursuit of truth is synonymous with the fight for liberation. The foundations of the state, of cisheteropatriarchy, of white supremacy, of capitalism, of religions, of monarchism and authoritarianism more generally, and all the others are all based on outright falsehoods or at a minimum inaccurate understandings of the world. Our "enlightened" leaders, politicians, managers, CEOs, and kings are in reality not in the slightest. Genders are arbitrary made up bullshit, the rules are all made up and the points don't matter, we can do as we wish. Distributed social forms are more efficient than highly centralized authoritarian ones, contrary to popular belief. We need not submit to nonexistent supernatural beings and those who claim special knowledge of them, and so on. More accurate models of the world converge to anarchism, and more radical, rigorous and effective anarchisms require more accurate models of the world.
