@textfiles I may still have sources for the version of Space Trader I helped out with. I definitely have binaries (and maybe source) for Flummox https://fogbound.net/flummox/ I’ll have to remember how to generate registration codes for Flummox…

The new OpenSCAD is way, way faster! I was able to render this model (inspired by Bruegel the Elder's "Tower of Babel") in half an hour on a Mac Book Pro. #OpenSCAD #geometry

The family tradition of Covid testing en-route just resulted in 36% of the guests for tonight’s Thanksgiving turning around and going home. None are symptomatic. The tests likely saved the lives of the nonagenarians attending. #CovidIsNotOver #covid #thanksgiving

@ajroach42 glad nobody was hurt, but sorry that there’s another problem in the series.

@futurebird Ursula Le Guin wrote about ant revolutionaries writing “up with the Queen” on the walls on the tunnels.

@futurebird I recently suggested here that voting was like “choosing your enemy”. They’re both against you, but you choose the one who is less harmful. I was amazed at the leftists falling over themselves to surrender even this tiny bit of power, calling me names, flat out misreading what I had written, and lecturing me on irrelevancies. The Left is too pure to nudge the balance towards the evil status quo and away from people who literally will send them to concentration camps.

@futurebird absolutely! The Right understands power. They’ll vote for a candidate they hate if that candidate will advance their agenda in any way.I wish there were a viable leftist candidate on the ballot, but there’s not, so I have to vote to minimize the harm. I don’t have any illusion that that’s improving the world, but even slowing the harm is worthwhile.

@ajroach42 I disagree about the "not especially compelling." Hammett had a way with words and a playfulness of language. His background as a Pinkerton allowed him to make up slang, and give it the air of authenticity -- to the point where actual criminals and LEOs started using his terms. “Getting Away with Murder,” by Erle Stanley Gardner, in The Atlantic, Vol. 215 No. 1 (1965) is a fun read.

@futurebird I have a red baseball cap that has the word “Canada” on the front (from times long ago). I’ve had to stop wearing it because supporters of a certain politician think I’m trolling them, and on more than one occasion have wanted to throw hands.

@futurebird @CultureDesk @RollingStone The Church also puts on some of the best live concerts I’ve seen. (Olds like me will want to bring earplugs, because they’re very loud).
