Yes, but they are usually not described that way. Instead they are particularly remote examples of rural towns, with an airstrip and maybe a road that’s impassible for a good part of the year. Not so hard. Make it more difficult for the wealthy to amass so goddamned much money that they can spend ten billion dollars to make ten million effective. Go after patent protections and noncompetes and the piles of cash won’t get as high and it’ll be way more work for these scumbags to have influence.@futurebird

My sense from seeing the shape of this negative space is that Epstein had tried roping so many celebrities, scientists, authors and other “useful” people into their little kompromat net that between the scale of his operation and the fearlessness of a few of his targets, it wasn’t a decision by the “powers that be”. A data point, the shape of this negative space: 20 years ago it was a flex among scifi writers to say “Billionaires ask my advice.” Somewhere about 2008 or so, that stopped. Cold. I think the lack of a primary to replace Biden was what did it. Kamala was fine, more or less. What wasn’t fine was the last-minute nomination with no primary season to have other stories of the world than the ridiculous crap from all the RNC candidates.Talk about October 7. Capital describes the assets and constitution of a firm. There was a window where if air travel was stopped for a bit longer, the people attempting to spread it because “virus not real” were arrested and quarantined, etc., it would have worked. Trump dithered and then his friends all stuck their greed collectors into everything. I don’t know that Clinton would have had the political capital (or desire) to do the right thing, but it was done before and was successful.@futurebird
