@leo I logged out of the old bird account on my devices & deleted most of my old tweets, but I’m close to going back to deactivate completely.

#askmastadon is there a function to edit posts? If so, is it the delete & redraft feature or is it something else an admin has to enable at the instance?#mastodon #fediverse

*Thread*The issues seen around the #fediblock by some instances of journa.host are not surprising. https://masto.ai/@parkermolloy/109377879615134816We are going through the teething problems of moving from centralised control to federated choice. We are trained over years to shout loudly & quickly online when we suspect an injustice, often without appropriate investigations, because that's the only way to have a response from the large centralised organisations owning the space.

We have also developed an intolerance when those organisations take "too long" to act; associating a lack of action to condoning the injustice in question. As a result, we have a number of admins of instances wanting to act quickly against percieved injustice so they aren't seen as endorsing it. We need a mental reset to undo these years of unrealistic expectations and actually investigate and think before we act.

We need to take some lessons learned here:- Users need to take ownership of their own experience using the mute/block tools already available for them and not assume everyone's experience needs to be the same as theirs- Users need to only use the report feature once they have had their own time to assess the instance and the situation- Admins need the space and confidence to investigate and take time when deciding on blocking an instance reported by their users#fediverse #mastodon

Moderation at scale is hard. https://mastodon.social/@Gargron/109383948764988900The fediverse is not immune to the issues experienced by larger social networks. It will be an interesting few months as communities and their moderators work through these issues.#fediverse #mastodon

@leo agreed. However as more of these monster instances come up (consolidation will always happen); it not only becomes more an issue for those moderators to manage, but also the for wider fediverse and the impacts of fediblock/defederation decisions.
