Salmon Butte: Camping Day 2Hiked up the Salmon Butte Trail. Then, I explored an abandoned trail and a 4x4 road past the butte. The crisp air is amazing this time of year. I can’t believe I’m surviving (not bailing) the near and below freezing temps. Using a handmade quilt on top of my sleeping bag. Plenty warm. I highly recommend this trail. Awesome views at the top.#Camping #PNW #Oregon #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Mountains #Landscape #LandscapePhotography

Kinzel Lake: Camping Day 3Finished my trip by hiking up to Kinzel Lake via the Salmon River Trail. The Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness is an amazing place, can’t believe I haven’t hiked in this area before. Will definitely go back as there are other trails to explore. Very successful camping trip despite the freezing temps. So happy to be able to camp this late in fall.#Camping #PNW #Oregon #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Mountains #Landscape #LandscapePhotography

After last weekend’s soaking I was thrilled to have a dry hike this morning, even if it was just in the city. The pink sunrise was pretty cool.#Sunrise #Hiking #PDX

Marys Peak: Camping Day 1I didn’t plan to hike 32 miles today, it just happened. Hiking sections of the Corvallis to Coast (C2C) trail this weekend. Made it from the edge of Corvallis to Marys Peak and back. I should have turned back sooner but I was halfway up the steep ascent to the peak so I had to commit. Haven’t seen anyone in the forest. So happy to be camping in December! So peaceful.#Camping #PNW #Oregon #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Mountains #LandscapePhotography

Harlan Valley: Camping Day 2Hiked from the Marys Peak area through a little town in a valley called Harlan and then back up into the mountains on a national forest road. My favorite part was a new looking short steep trail in the middle of nowhere that connects two abandoned forest roads. This trail is so well maintained, very impressed. Lots of trail signs to guide the way and avoid danger.#Camping #PNW #Oregon #Photography #Hiking #Walking #Nature #Outdoors #Mountains #LandscapePhotography

For #TentViewTuesday here is a photo of my campsite along the Wilson River Trail from a couple weeks ago. There was a curious pile of wood directly on the trail. Not sure what that was about. Thinking of naming this campsite Kamikaze Corner after the famous Portland intersection where several streets meet (multiple old forest roads lead here along with the trail).

Central CascadesI was trying to find a location with less rain showers this weekend and somehow ended up camping in the mountains. 🤔 Today was so fun and I want to remember that when the snow showers start in the morning. The mountain views have been stunning. Seeing how close I can get to Mount Washington tomorrow. Maybe the weather will be totally fine but I’m prepared to bail if I’m not able to stay warm.#Backpacking #Hiking #PNW #Oregon #Outdoors #LandscapePhotography #Mountains

PCT Section I: Day 1Decided to take an easy weekend and peek at what Section I south of Snoqualmie Pass has to offer. A few pretty lakes but it certainly doesn’t stack up to sections north and south of here. It’s not bad, I’m having fun. Detoured up a steep side trail to see Mount Rainier. Only hiked for 8 hours and then took a nap. Almost no one out here. Very lovely at Stirrup, my currently private lake.#Backpacking #Hiking #WashingtonState #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

Olympic National Park: Gladys DivideStarted the morning with a push toward Gladys. Impressed by the clear green waters of Flapjack Lakes. Amazed by the gray rocky cliffs along the divide. Found a boot path to summit Mount Gladys. Great experience even with the clouds. It was incredibly hot and humid after reentering the rainforest, something I’m not used to. Big Log camp had a little breeze and few bugs.#Backpacking #Hiking #WashingtonState #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

Alpine Lakes: Jade LakeJade Lake is jaw droppingly gorgeous in person. Wow! Nobody told me that, or that the trail is so fun. Starts off from Marmot Lake rooty and rugged then shoots up rocky gullies and boulder fields to what must be Jade Pass. Lake Clarice, Marmot Lake, and No Name Lake were pretty too. If able, this is a must do trip. Still using my baby bear can (BV425) and I like it so far.#Backpacking #Hiking #WashingtonState #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

Alpine Lakes: Surprise EverythingHeaded north to summit Surprise Mountain, descend the granite boulders down from Surprise Gap, visit the tranquil Surprise Lake, and then set up camp along Surprise Creek. I had almost changed trip locations due to a 30% chance of thunderstorms but I challenged myself to brave the weather anyway. It never rained on my camp but I heard near constant thunder all evening.#Backpacking #Hiking #WashingtonState #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

Eagle Cap: Chimney LakeI arrived at the trailhead just after huge thunderstorms barreled through the wilderness. Slept for a few hours and then hit the trail. When the sun came up I was immediately relieved to be in this beautiful place. I accidentally found an off trail route and flirted with summiting Lookout Mountain. Wasn’t into it so I doubled back, went over Bowman Pass, and then down into the next valley.#Backpacking #Hiking #Oregon #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

Eagle Cap: Prospect LakeMy goal this weekend is to level-up my mountaineering skills and find four off-trail lakes. I’m sure there will be several route finding failures but hopefully some successes as well. After one failure, I navigated a faint boot trail over a pass to beautiful Prospect Lake. From there I descended off the back side of the lake down to the valley, including a steep chute of granite boulders.#Backpacking #Hiking #Oregon #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

Eagle Cap: Pocket LakeReaching crystal clear Pocket Lake was my most difficult adventure to date. I found a climbers route off of the Glacier Pass trail. Lost the way a few times but eventually reached two cairns on some boulders. The route from here hugs the mountainside going over countless large granite boulders until the lake suddenly appears. The crux was a little steep but exciting. Very fun and beautiful.#Backpacking #Hiking #Oregon #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains

Elkhorn Crest Trail: Summit LakeMy buddy Isaac and I decided to explore the Elkhorn Crest National Recreation Trail. It’s the highest trail in the Blue Mountains and traverses the Elkhorn ridgeline in Northeast Oregon. From near Anthony Lakes, we hiked 10 miles to camp at Summit Lake. Very impressed by the views on the way and we had the lake to ourselves. Fall is upon us but great weather so far.#Backpacking #Hiking #Oregon #PNW #LandscapePhotography #Outdoors #Mountains
