@lunduke Can you post the weight and dimensions of the phone? What are the image sensors being used in the front and back cameras? Posting the output of the lshw and hwinfo commands would be very helpful and posting a high resolution photo of the board and its chips would answer a lot of the questions on the forum.

Awesome to see DisplayPort Alt Mode mode working and in 3D! I noticed that the i.MX 8M Quad documentation shows a DRM blob for using HDMI, so I was wondering if you found a way around that using DCSS or will we be limiited to DisplayPort Alt Mode?

@dos, OK, that makes sense, but if DisplayPort Alt Mode is carrying an HDMI signal, we still have the same question for RYF certification. Does the DCSS driver for the iMX8MQ no longer require the HDMI DRM blob or is the video being converted to HDMI outside the iMX8MQ?

@dos, Oh I assumed that DP alt-mode was like normal DP, but I Googled it and found that there is no DP Dual Mode (DP++) over DP alt-mode, so it isn't possible to send an HDMI signal over DP alt-mode. We will need an active adapter to convert from DP to HDMI. This article explains it:https://www.barco.com/en/news/displayport-to-hdmi-conversion-should-i-use-an-active-or-passive-adapter

@dos, HDMI alt-mode not being common gives me hope for the future. As more devices move to USB-C, we can get rid of HDMI, which requires licensing fees, and just DisplayPort, which is a freer standard. Nice to find something positive in this dreary world.

@dos, Are you running the PinePhone's RAM at 624MHz? The difference in load times really shows the advantage of LPDDR4-3200 over LPDDR3-1248 RAM.

@dos, Could you post the output of "sudo hardinfo -r" for the two phones? That would give us some benchmarks for the CPU and GPU performance. Does "lshw" show the RAM speed on the PinePhone? (I'm assuming this is not the actual speed, but the top rated speed of the RAM stick, but I'm curious what it says.)
