@GuerillaOntologist @Literally @geocontrol @Stacco @ntnsndr Let’s be honest and say that the ‘decentralised’ founding values of blockchain have been wildly and successfully amplified to the status of alternative ‘way of life’, further juiced by the promise of financial returns. So blockchain provides energy. The differentiator is hype.Great for raising finance as a short term marketing exercise vs a coop - eg buying a copy of the US constitution. 1/2

@GuerillaOntologist @Literally @geocontrol @Stacco @ntnsndr but when the hype wears off DAO’s tend to resemble ‘boring’ off-chain institutions - and it becomes easier to ask the question as to why blockchain is needed in the first place. 2/2

@GuerillaOntologist @ntnsndr @Literally @geocontrol @Stacco We’re probably arriving at the conclusion that blockchain is ‘interesting’ but not ‘necessary’. Take FWB & Gitcoin - well run & known DAO’s. If you erased blockchain could they still function? The answer is yes & some of the things that they do would be simpler. It’s sort of like Meta spending billions to achieve legs when we already have them in the real world. A resource hog that is ‘interesting’ but not ‘necessary’.
