I've collected a bunch more feeds for my news reader and decided to publish them.https://secluded.site/feeds/There's also an OPML available for download if you'd rather work with the file directly.

@mhoye I'm worried about Meta slurping up all of our personal information. ActivityPub isn't going anywhere just like all those things you mentioned didn't go anywhere.Meta joining fedi is going to automatically opt everyone into their data collection and the only way to opt out is for your admin to actively and preemptively defederate from them. I'd rather not allow _Facebook_ to ingest my entire social graph, every public post I've ever made, every favourite, every boost, and every reaction. And yes, this is already possible, anyone can do it, and people already have done it. There's a slight difference, though, between one asshole in his basement and the largest social media company on the planet.

Tor turns to proof-of-work puzzles to defend onion network from DDoS attackshttps://www.theregister.com/2023/08/26/tor_tweaks_onion_routing_software/> …> The updated software, used to run Tor nodes, now supports a proof-of-work challenge called EquiX. Designed by Tevador, who developed Monero's proof-of-work algorithm, it is "a CPU-friendly client puzzle with fast verification and small solution size (16 bytes).">> It appears this computation will not go toward cryptomining, which some may feel is a lost revenue opportunity and others may welcome as an ethical necessity.> …GOOD. It is absolutely an ethical necessity.

Crash Course to LXDhttps://secluded.site/crash-course-to-lxd/Follow-up from my previous blog post. I cover installation of LXD, real-world usage instructions, and some additional tips: using profiles to limit container CPU/RAM/disk use as well as preventing fork bombs from affecting other containers or the host system.#Sysadmin #Containers #VMs #Docker #LXD #Incus

LXD: Containers for Human Beingshttps://secluded.site/lxd-containers-for-human-beings/This is a blog post version of a talk I presented at both Ubuntu Summit 2022 and SouthEast LinuxFest 2023. I cover why one might want to use VMs, application containers, or system containers, I talk specifics about VM hypervisor types, how application and system containers work, and when I think it's appropriate to use each technology.#Sysadmin #Containers #VMs #Docker #LXD #Incus

Willow, a forge-agnostic software release trackerhttps://sr.ht/~amolith/willow/It's still in an MVP state at the moment; my next priorities are going to be refactoring to use a database rather than a CSV, then adding basic user management.

I want your frontend opinions. Boosts welcome because I want many opinions 🔄How do you prefer to construct and render browser-based interfaces? (CSR, SSR, framework like Angular/React, hand-written HTML/CSS, etc.)How do you prefer to style them? (Bootstrap, TailwindCSS, Pico.css, hand-written CSS, etc.)
