       Warning! The new Thunderbird 115 and the most recent Thunderbird 116 betas are a mess in terms of accessibility, and the issues affect NVDA and JAWS equally. Even expanding/collapsing folders via Left/Right generates huge delays and triggers the CPU, and tabbing around the interface is a pain. The older Thunderbird 102 has none of this. Definitely avoid these releases if you want no hiccups. Just wondering what's happening on the other side of Mozilla.@thunderbird

       @grammargirl Huge fan of AHD here - someone who's saddened by its apparent discontinuation.Questions:1. Why was the panel discontinued abruptly?2. Do you think the presence of such a panel would be a boon to English dictionaries in this day and age? Is the concept still relevant?3. Where do you think we're headed after the demise of both the usage panel and -recently - Charles Harrington Elster re the issue of descriptivism vs. prescriptivism?Thanks.

       Yes, its website might be up and running, but the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, at least in its vibrant form which reflected change in the English language, is dead for sure. If you go to their website and look up any of the following, you'll find no definitions as a result of not updating the database over the past few years - really saddening, IMO, for a brilliant dictionary which was my go-to reference title for many years:Covid, Covid-19, subvariant, Galentine’s Day, deepfake, super-spreader, social distancing, dumbphone, greenwash, metaverse, shrinkflation.https://www.ahdictionary.com@grammargirl

       @grammargirl Thanks. It seems to me that HarperCollins Publishers purchased AHD from Houghton Mifflin a while ago, and this new ownership is also reflected on AHD's website. However, HarperCollins just maintains it without any major lexicographic activities. AHD used to have an accompanying along with new and updated words on an annual basis, but all of them have been stalled.
