Tech companies are so busy doing crimes and reinventing things that already exist, or that nobody asked for, and none of them are working on giving us Baymax. We deserve at least one Baymax instead of the next breed of robot police dogs.Or maybe I just need a hug.

My AirPod fell out of my ear as I bent over. It landed right on my outstretched fingers, but bounced off and flew in a perfect, graceful arc… and landed behind my 300 pound thus essentially unmovable bed, in a spot I can see but can’t reach.This is why I can’t have nice things. Gravity.

@onan I do have a lasso for them, but I stopped using it when I was on zoom calls, because it looks a little weird and people always asked me a whole bunch of questions about it, that I didn’t think were worth the level of discussion that always arose.

I feel like we aren’t talking nearly enough about DeSantis (FL), Abbott (TX) and Kemp (GA) using or threatening to use state laws that allow for the removal of local elected officials for significant misconduct to replace Democrats with their Republican cronies on the flimsiest of pretexts, and without any due process. DeSantis already replaced 2 prosecutors, it’s how TX took over the Houston schools, and Kemp is threatening Fani Willis.

Republicans will take advantage of every and any mechanism that is available to take control of public offices that they did not win, and that the public does not want them to hold. If they are allowed to have any power, they will exploit it without regard to the will of the voters.

@Aviva_Gary my feeling is that if people do not want to care about other people while they are in synagogue on the holiest days of the year that they are the ones who should be relegated to zoom. I shouldn’t be excluded from being in Jewish community because of people who don’t actually care about Jewish community.

Last week I asked about #masking policies at #synagogues for the upcoming high holidays. Yesterday I found out that one my own rabbis won’t be leading #RoshHashanah services because she has COVID. She’s already dealing with long COVID, as well. If you’re attending services this weekend, regardless of policy, wear a #mask. We’re in a surge, and we cannot allow these most holy days to become super spreader events.

Talking to a friend who’s in the hospital and had a sign on their door requesting masking, for their safety. Most staff only wore paper masks, if that. (Doctors were worst at masking at all.)Yesterday friend had a bit of a sore throat, and was immediately COVID tested and now the door sign is “heightened COVID risk” and everyone is wearing N95s on entering. They’ve decided to have a sore throat until discharge, since apparently the only way to be protected is to pose a risk to the staff.

What does anti-trans bias in media look like?It looks like an article about complaints over the mere existence of a transgender character in a TV show that came from less than 0.0001895% of the show’s viewers, needlessly amplifying the bigotry of an infinitesimal number of complainers and granting them unwarranted attention. Worsened by a headline that treats the number of complaints as significant and worded as though they hold some validity.

@raccoon probably because none of the others wanted to do it. Everyone else moves on from the role and they don’t want to revisit it. He, conversely, loves it. And the fans love him and they really love him and Catherine Tate together.

We got word that my 80-something year old cousin is in the ICU with multiple complications from #Covid, plus a brain injury from falling when she lost consciousness from low oxygen saturation. Her chances of meaningful recovery are very slim.This thing is still deadly. Don’t be mistaken.

I was added to a group text this morning, with several cousins. Amadi, said they, you planned our family reunions before and it’s been more than 10 years, we think we should have another next summer. COVID is still real. There’s nothing indicating that next summer will suddenly be safe when it comes to this virus. I would love to see my extended family. Since the last time we’ve all been together, my mother has become the local family matriarch, of sorts. She’s the eldest in any case and would love to be able to see everybody, and there are children that none of us have met, but there’s no way to do this kind of thing safely, with people coming in from across the country.

Because the abled world decided that COVID was over for them, COVID will seemingly never be over for some of us. All of the abled people who continue to whine about having to stay at home in 2020 (it was never lockdown, and I will never call it that) and how horrible it was to go without social interaction have pretty much ensured that some of us will never be able to socialize with anyone except through screens. Hospitals are reinstating mask mandates and they’re still not getting it.

@futurebird I don’t use them, I make my own laundry soap, but my aunt has them in a plastic container that Chinese food was delivered in, and she says they stay separate even though her house is very humid.
