basically, I can probably get this running while we're waiting at the airport tonight but I'll probably wait till we're back so I don't accidentally fuck the whole thing up, unable to fix it because I'll be on a plane in the arctic circle with no WiFi

we'll be using Vultr/Constant for AMS right now because I've been so far annoyed with some of the things iFog GmbH doesevery time I reboot my Debian VM there it reverts all of my edits to /etc/ssh/sshd_config, for example

if anyone has suggestions for hosting companies that:- are EU-based- aren't too expensive- don't run on over-provisioned e-waste- don't do silly things like not persisting certain config files when I reboot on a system installed from their debian image- have BGPplease let me know

it sounds horrible and janky and it isbut most of the time, it workslinux systems are incredibly resilient to having their entire disk overwritten while they're running

I'm sure this will leave some garbage in an unpartitioned area of the disk at some point and mess up filesystem recovery or something, but I can just do it over again and reapply my configs
