We’re moving so you can actually see our LEDs! Thanks to our friend JP at Hot Air Collective for sharing his black tent! #lamakerfaire

Sending a thank you to whoever talked up our PCB rulers lately, we’ve been getting a bunch of orders thru both our website and Digi-Key! I know I’m biased, but I still think they’re some of the best tools your $15 total can buy for helping with PCB layout.https://www.alpenglowindustries.com/store/c6/Tools_and_Accessories.html#pcbruler #pcblayout #circuitboards #pcbfootprints #pcbs #eletricalengineering

Some photos from Apex, the weirdest coolest electronics surplus store in existence.

You think you know a reasonable amount about test equipment and then you see this shit at Apex.

Most of the crew, but there were still a lot more people from Supercon wandering around. Shout-out to the very best Apex tour guide, @helenleigh who we all greatly missed! This is taken at the donut/fresh juice bar/sandwich shop at the opposite end of the street, thanks Jason for the photo.Back row: @jasoncoon @ItsMrJP@maketvee RobynMeSpencer@simenzhor Mike@bitluni @signalskewFront row:@highenergybeams@geekmomprojects@joeycastillo

Favorite circuit to teach to total beginners - GO! Looking for some inspriration for our upcoming workshops. They will physically build, observe, and measure these. I’ve already got:- good olde resistor and LED- adding a photoresistor for a nightlight (and/or swapping LED for buzzer to get a cookie jar alarm)More thoughts below.

Any simple inductor/magnetic ideas? I’ve been tossing around something like a credit knocker solenoid for pinball but would need a bunch of mech parts. (They would be taking these home). Also thinking a simple audio something would be nice, I think going into oscillating / AC circuits is too deep for this workshop, but something where you can hear a reaction to a twiddling a knob is cool. Will def bust out our @oskitone kits for show and tell.

Some teasers for this project which is definitely having scope creep issues.

I made a sign for a protest tomorrow - there were so many things I could say that I had a hard time narrowing it down, but this is a decent summary. I didn’t really mean to add LEDs, it just happened because I have piles of them lying around. Thx to @LaserMistress and @wizard for making great hardware and pointing out excellent LEDs to stash for when I have a need like this one.

Here are more pix of the back and me holding it. I also saved the cutouts for making another sign sometime.

Here is where I admit that the red backing for OFF wasn’t planned and covers a mistake. Somehow I managed to remember to adjust the A for a stencil cut but completely missed the O. Oops I was intending on backing the hands because it made the graphic better, so I added it to OFF as well. Red seemed a good choice which made me choose blue for the hands just to throw the colors of our flag into those fascist fake patriot faces.

Fun thing about translucent acrylic - it throws colorful shadows.

Not as bright in the sun of course, but that’s OK. I wrapped the excess LED strand down the handle and loosely held it in place with zip ties.

Ok serious question - I’m trying to understand why this particular photo of my sign blew up (the colorful shadows). Is it just a snowball effect thing and people didn’t see the others? Or is there something about this photo that particular captures your attention? Srsly. if you liked or reposted this - thank you! - and I’m incredibly curious about what the specific appeal of this photo was.

It held up well and gots lots of love and photos at the protest. I was essentially using the LED wraps on the stake as a grip and the strip held up fine. Went through 2x single 18650 USB lipstick batteries (2200 mAh each) in 3.5 hrs. The Pixelblaze was in AP mode and I blew a friend’s mind when I was like yeah, connect to FuckOffFascists wifi, password protestsign, now go to 192.169.4.1 and change the pattern. 😂

Made some more stickers (the pink/purple ones), inspired by @drc3p0 ‘s DIY OR DIE TRYING sticker (second photo along with some of their other stickers!). $10 thermal printer has a hard time adjusting to round stickers and basically wouldn’t calibrate on the glitter ones at all. Gotta see if there are some manual setup options.
