The idea is pretty obvious: that everyone is tough when there's no chance of anything blowing back on them.What I was thinking about when I used the word profound was that we all need to be trying to find ways to open the slider at all times. Because what we say to each other is real and meaningful and has effects. If all we do is scream at each other through glass, we are wasting a huge amount of our collective potential.

@Stomata I guess what I really want to say is, we could use your support over here, and "Fuck America" doesn't feel like support. I hate it all too, at least as much as you do.And honestly, the people enabling them, at least the vast majority of those people, have been brainwashed for their entire lives and probably don't have the ability to resist it. @Stomata we obviously agree on a lot, and I don't mean to be overly sensitive. I guess I just am a little sensitive at this point. I'm not used to being hated by people all over the world because of where I was born and I haven't built coping mechanisms for that yet.Probably I should just keep my mouth shut. :)

I would like to finally quit YouTube, which will be significant for me in that I'll be severing my last tie to corporate tech. Yay!I have a YT channel, but that's not what keeps me on YT. It's about the awesome, bite-sized, high-quality video essays that I enjoy so much. I just can't read books ALL the time, damnit! @lislegaard that's definitely on the list of things to consider, but honestly, I'd rather leave it behind completely. Big tech is directly contributing to horrific things in my country, and I just don't want any part in it anymore. It's gone beyond mental health and privacy for me.But RSS subscriptions are a MUCH better way to engage w/ YouTube than going to the website or app, and I would encourage anyone who isn't planning to give it up to go that way!
