It's not "some people in the BBC” it’s “The BBC as an institution”.Why wait until somebody gets hurt by it when people on .art seem to prefer the proactive style because that makes .art a safe place.The ability to defederate without a central committee or CEO deciding is the key strength of the fediverse and .art cutting out who the heck they want for what ever reason is exactly what some folks need to be on the fediverse

@pixel it may suck for some people who are not on .art, yes, maybe even for some on .art, who would hopefully have spoken up. I would guess they were ok with the decisionSome decisions can't be made fairly without also making them a lot of work. I'm sure It’s a tradeoff the mod of .art made to keep the marginalized users there safe. If in doubt decide in favor of their own users. Reduce moderation work in order to be able to keep doing it. Nobody is being held hostage on any instance

@pixel I wonder why the needs of new people take precedence over the needs of existing fedi users for you. I would argue it should be the other way around. How would you feel if a vaguely bigoted instance popped up and you were on an instance that decided not to defederate for the benefit of twitter users who might want to migrate there?

So you want to be an evil MySQL goblin? Store booleans as ENUM("0", "1").Totally unrelated: Did you know in MySQL the ENUM type starts at index 1 and therefor the above column, inserting "0" and inserting 1 results in the same record?

Dysphoria suddenly hit the last two days, like a wall of bricks. It's really hard to convey how dysphoria feels to someone who never experienced it, because it's a unique feeling. In these especially tough moments with unconsolable crying, I wish I could make myself more visible because crying for hours, crying myself to sleep, waking up and crying more, feels like a strong visual to convey at least an idea of what it must be like.

It really helps commiserating with others.An attempt at explaining it could be: Remember how your voice sounded to you when you heard a recording of yourself for the first time. Did it sound foreign or wrong, like it wasn't the voice you're expecting / supposed to be hearing? Imagine you had a similar feeling when seeing an aspect of your body, just amplified and the feeling doesn't go away over time.Probably still very hard to imagine

@i_lost_my_bagel does this require Windows? My localhost thankfully doesn't react to requests on that port but I'm also running Linux
