@adamdavidson re: news being triggering. It feels like the potential solution lies in the decentralization. Is there (or could there be) a way for an individual user to set a preference where everything coming from the journalism server gets…muted while remaining available? Blurred? An automatic warning (“this is news and might be triggering”)? Then users could choose to look if/when they’re ready. Then it’s on us to design that experience for ourselves.

- No algorithm purposefully designed to make you angry and afraid- Conversation at the speed of thought. - You are a person, not a product.- No “trending topics” = a wider, more interesting range of discussions from which to choose.- No petulant billionaire baby-men manipulating news cycles (nor their oddly rabid, sadly sycophantic stans).Take a breath. You are no longer trapped in a reaction factory, Welcome.

Now that I’m here I’m confused about why I ever thought I wanted to be there. It’s just all so dehumanizing. That’s what’s really hitting me: how dehumanizing it is. All of it. The algorithm. The trolls. The being someone else’s product. The way one’s attention can be so easily and deliberately manipulated. There’s just no dignity in any of that.

My teenager, an hour into Die Hard: “This is THE BEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!” Then she found out that the sequel is called Die Harder, which, let’s face it, is pure poetry.
