@jerry @leakix@infosec.exchange I'm not an infosec person but am fascinated by this. Search is viewed as undesirable for a fediverse? I'm really struggling to understand that ideologically. The early internet was a sort of fediverse, no-one could find anything, so we built search engines.Every end user benefits from search, surely? From what I understood in the toot thread, the argument is that whole fediverse population should do without search, in order to make it harder for nefarious actors to search?

Does anyone else find it completely unreasonable of Apple to force all iOS and macOS purchases payments go through your spouse's payment card if they are the Family Organiser?I shouldn't be treated like a second class citizen within my own phone and macbook and Apple ID! I should be free to add alternative payment methods. Also what about privacy? #privacy #ios #appleid #Apple

@Wolven this is particularly scary because in today’s fake news world, ‘sometimes right’ is not good enough at all. Society needs trustworthy information. 100% trustworthy. I worry that companies like Apple and Google presenting AI responses as ‘answers’ makes them look like fact, diluting the amount of true and reliable information even more…

This is very much a good step, surprising to see it coming out of US not EU. I really do think we are going to need a LOT more regulation around subscriptions globally in the coming months/years. It's become an utterly toxic, non-human-centric and unsustainable business model. There's no way that the markets (or people's mental health or bank balance) can support the insane number of entities that are all trying to get a permanent cut of our monthly salaries. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c07nlvmyl05o

It shouldn’t be allowed for companies to lock away so many features that we need in our daily lives behind subscriptions such that we never own basic digital capabilities like having a functioning smart watch or being able to export transaction data or sync parts of our digital lives properly.
