       @leo how are you incorporating the comments into Hugo? I see it kicks me back to Mastodon (on mobile, at least) to actually comment.My site is Hugo, and I think that I may want to borrow that setup.

       @leo there are some great corners of the hellsite that I hope to continue here or elsewhere. Groups of real people who found each other around a common interest, and created friendships that expanded beyond that original common interest. Those communities seem like great candidates for shifting to mastodon or discord or something.

       @leo That's a good point, but I'm going to continue to follow folks from my local server, which gives me a more curated Home feed. I'm a big twitter lists user, and one of the things that helped keep twitter from being absolutely terrible was a "daily reading" list which was a more condensed group of active users who I wanted to see all of their posts, and not have them be lost in the larger feed.

       @leo @CSIS I'm shocked at how much (I'll whisper it so as not to attract a wild Jeff Jarvis) moral panic this "revelation" brought on. It really is FUD. It's also a bit shocking in that so many people seemed to believe that their birdsite messages would be encrypted. And beyond that, I think there's a need for additional education around distribution, and servers and their admins - and that you should consider them as part of your decision of which instance to join.
