@jeffcliff Those links don’t work for me. #PrivacyRedirect sent me to a #Bibliogram instance, but Bibliogram has been discontinued. So I had to disable bibliogram. IG just shoots blanks when visited directly, even after going the javascript allowance chase.

We all know it’s a good social norm to add a text description of images so people who cannot see the image are not excluded.What about those of us who are excluded from viewing #walledGarden content. Shouldn’t there be a social norm to summarize articles that are published in exclusive places like #cloudflare?#poll

@pixelfed You are producing 3 of 4 centralized privacy-abusing #Cloudflare sites that you market as “#Privacy & safety built-in” while claiming to hold decentralization in high-esteem. You conceal from your users the fact that you’ve allowed Cloudflare see the traffic of your users surreptitiously.. and then you ask for donations? The only thing needed here is a bounty to be CF-free.

@bignose @mjg59 Is OSI approving the software or the license? Sounds like you’re talking about OSI-approved license. Wouldn’t the license generally exist before the software does, so there is no limbo period?

@lukeshu @mjg59 @bignose I think it’s quite rare for software devs to write their own license. There are some good articles floating around about why it’s a really bad idea. Better to use a license that was already drafted, like GPL. Software devs have a tendency to overestimate their ability to practice law, which I think is why it’s a disaster when they try to write their own license.

@bignose @mjg59 @lukeshu The deveoper of a file system murdered his wife (IIRC) and then opted to represent himself in court. He tried to argue that because the prosecution spelled his name on the court summons in all caps, the case should be tossed out as that’s not how his name is spelled. This is what happens when software devs practice law.

A disturbing new development has just worsened the web. There are now several corporate 3rd parties working to mask the presence of #Cloudflare. CF has always been hidden from normies who don’t know to see-and-avoid CF. But now for those of us who avoid CF, it’s no longer sufficient to check the IP address against Cloudflare’s ranges of compromized IPs. We must also do an CNAME check which implies a DNS lookup for every single site. Fuck me. What a loss.

Consider how Tor project publishes the list of exit nodes so that the rest of the world can decide how to treat Tor traffic.Then consider how Cloudflare does not. As #Cloudflare becomes your internet, you don’t even get to know whether your connection traverses CF’s assets.We have an ironic inversion where a tech giant acts like an irresponsible self-entitled child & a hacker club (of sorts) plays the reponsible adult role. Yet #MatthewPrince talks down to those CF excludes as children. WTF.
