       @grammargirl As a compound verb it takes a hyphen, as a compound noun it would be without a space. “Who spell-checks the spellcheckers?” makes it easier to see which is which. “Who spell checks the spell checkers” could be read as “The ‘who’ spell checks [blocks] the spell ‘checkers’.”

       @grammargirl Hi Mignon! I wonder if you’ve noticed an odd spelling trend online - spaces being omitted between words, but consistently. We’ve seen “alot” and “abit”….a lot. But also “infact” and just today, “incase.” Where do you think this comes from, and why is it becoming more common?

       @grammargirl Definitely see it on spaces with a mix of younger internet users (tumblr, reddit); i'm no longer on twitter but used to see it there as well.
