To test multiple lines of #shell #script I usually used to save it in a file and run it. 😞 But just found out it can be done more easily:1. type `{` and enter2. enter multiple lines of shell script3. press enter and close it with `}` then enter againWorks on #bash, #ksh, #zsh /bin/sh (#OpenBSD, #Debian) and possibly every other shell out there. This makes #scripting a whole lot fun for me. 👍

Do you want to use your own self-signed certificate to protect against it? Too bad.Popular software are gradually breaking or stopping supporting this functionality in the name of security or complaining that it's too complex to maintain. This includes free and open source projects. Those projects suggest using #letsencrypt instead, which being a western organization is not immune to coercion. So back to square one.

I was accessing a website today and checking the #SSL/#TLS certificate, it turns out that it's from Amazon! That was a #FOSS project using a certificate from #GAFAM family.

We know that #cloudflare has access to everything the user does, #unencrypted, on a website. [https://serverfault.com/a/662951]TLS/SSL can be #MITM attacked by powerful organizations to expose unencrypted content, including user passwords. If we can't trust cloudflare, how can we trust HTTPS? And if we can't trust HTTPS maybe it's time we start using something else? Perhaps .onion or .i2p services?#hiddenservices #tor #i2p #i2pd #eepsites

@gabriel Yes. This way we don't have to trust any other party. The communication is end to end encrypted and protected by tor. Data goes directly between server and user, with just the network to think about.

This #article by @solene makes me want to use #OpenBSD more. What #security does a default OpenBSD installation offer?https://dataswamp.org/~solene/2021-02-14-openbsd-default-security.htmlSo many basic #features; like #swap being #encrypted by default, web browser not being able to access my documents, server software running under #chroot seems like a common sense; but #Linux distros don't have them; at least not by default. It requires many steps to be taken to set these up. But OpenBSD has them by default.Secure by default. Nice. 👍

Recently found #i2pd on @fdroidorg ! 🎉 ➡️ https://www.f-droid.org/en/packages/org.purplei2p.i2pd/If you decide to use¹ it:- Install i2pd from F-Droid- Install a browser which has proxy support (such as Lighting browser²)- Launch i2pd app, allow to run on background and press home (do not quit the app)- Launch the browser and setup the proxy to be localhost with port 4444 (on Lightning, Settings > General Settings> HTTP proxy > Manual)- Try "http://i2p-projekt.i2p" as test#android #i2p

@fdroidorg btw, there's also the original I2P app available on F-Droid:https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.i2p.android.routerThis article was helpful:https://scribe.rip/mhatta/how-to-use-i2p-on-android-91dd379fdb65Lightning has an "I2P" proxy setting, but it wants the original I2P app to be installed (not i2pd) and fails if it isn't. So had to set to "Manual" and input the settings manually.

#LibreWolf / #Firefox ver 100 added a new "Color scheme" setting which allows to turn on dark mode on all websites. 👍Thought that was the perfect time to write this blog-Creating a Dark Mode Toggle Button That Respects Browsers and Users at the Same Time➡️ https://socialhome.network/content/11427376/Contains both #jquery and #nonjquery versions.#html #css #js #JavaScript #webdev #dark #mode #color #scheme #selector #browser #feature #code #cc0

Recently I was looking for a #lightweight #wayland #stacking #window #manager.I mean Wayland is the future, right?#GNOME is probably the best, but it's not light. #Sway is great but it's not stacking. I had such high hopes for #waybox but it didn't work with my existing Openbox configs. Heard about #Hikari, but looking at the screenshots, it doesn't have title bars!At last, found someone suggesting #labwc. It did what waybox couldn't do... It worked with my existing #Openbox configs! 👏

@redstarfish Yeah. Me too.I know it's a hype now a days. But the type of work I have to do sometimes, e.g. graphic design, work in IDEs, are not exactly great to do in tiling wms. So I had to dig in to find labwc.

@selea 20GB seems too much. Never had this much updates in any of my installs. Not even on Arch. Have you missed updates for months or something? Or are you talking multiple machines?

@rysiek I have a similar problem. I moved GH projects years ago to GL.com. I mostly use that for projects using Pages. Now to move again means I'd have to change URLs for my projects everywhere. framagit.org is good, but it has signup issues. So for beginners, the only option is to use GL.com unfortunately.

@rysiek The better way I found to signup for framagit.org is to login with GL.com and it doesn't cause any issues. But since my projects often are targeted towards beginners, this would be probably difficult for them understand.
