       @shaman this raises the question that I hadn’t considered, until just now: if new layers of sediment are constantly piling up, by the conservation of matter, are they commensurately being dug out of somewhere else I feel like a pretty much only exclusively see layers piling up. Except near rivers or something but that seems to be too much of an edge effect to explain the layers piling up everywhere that is not a river.Yes, I could Google this, but I’m not doing that.
